About this listen
If the Abyss lives, Darkness has risen again. Reva has lived her entire life in secret, hiding in plain sight from a world that would rather see her dead. She has learned how to control her powers enough to escape life unnoticed. But everything changes when knights of a neighboring country arrive at her doorstep searching for her guardian to help care for the Royal Family’s youngest prince and his mysterious illness. She sends Reva in her place with an ominous message and her control is tested when she has to live and work under the rule of a kingdom that hasn’t employed her kind in hundreds of years.
While Reva tries to help the young prince battle this illness, she realizes she didn’t leave as much of her life behind as she thought. The Abyss forming in the mountains that separate her country from others has reached beyond her home. Something dark, old, and sinister is brewing, and it’s fallen to Reva and her new friends to figure out who and why. Through an unanticipated friendship with a princess and knight of the kingdom she now serves, Reva struggles to find not only her place in this world but who she really is. With Fate rearing its ugly eye around every corner, Reva learns she may play a bigger role than she could ever have imagined.

Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. The plot and FMC was amazing
This fantasy realm was amazing!
And I really enjoyed the supporting characters!
Clint was one of my favorite characters and I love how Reva is strong, smart and super caring. She has such a big heart. Her drive is top tier.
Highly recommend and the audio performance was really good.

What lies ahead!!
Oh, Darkness Comes Again! What a wild, mysterious ride you are. This first book in K.M. Davidson’s five-part series is like a giant teaser trailer for all the chaos and excitement to come. Think of it as the appetizer that leaves you super hungry for the main course.
The story is packed with fascinating. characters, just the right amount of drama, and enough unanswered question to keep you up way past bedtime. There’s even a touch of spice—nothing too fiery, though! I’d rate it a solid 2 chili peppers for book one, but the author has confirmed this is just the beginning, with the spice level set to heat up as the series continues.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited and listened to the audiobook as well. Let me just say, the narrator did an amazing job bringing each character to life! They found clever ways to distinguish between the voices, making the story even more enjoyable.
And that ending? Whew, it’s like the book waved goodbye with a wink and said, “See you in book two!” With the second book just released, now’s the time to jump in and see where all those cliffhangers (and spices) lead. It’s the perfect start to a series that feels like it’s just getting warmed up!

If this is just the beginning…
As someone who loves fantasy, I found myself so captivated by the plot and pacing that I’d almost forget it’s an adult fantasy—right up until the moment things start to get steamy!

Lovely debut!
What a lovely debut from K.M. Davidson! Darkness Comes Again introduces us to Reva, who leaves behind her sheltered life in Eldamain for the kingdom of Mariande, where she’s tasked with healing the young prince. Reva is an absolute delight—watching her step into a new world, uncover her potential, and fiercely protect those she loves was a joy. I can't wait to see how she fully comes into her powers! 😍
And Clint—oh, sweet, cheeky Clint. He completely stole my heart, and he better get a cure! Then there's Elly, whose brilliant mind makes her the ideal research partner (seriously, sign me up). I’m eager to see if Pax can overcome his prejudice and prove himself worthy of her. As for Fin? Swoon. He’s kind, funny, and undeniably attractive... but that last line of the book has me questioning where the romance is headed. 👀
The magic system and the history of the Magics and Sirians are incredibly intriguing, and I’m excited to unravel more of their secrets in book two. Davidson has crafted a world rich with adventure, mystery, and heart—bring on the next installment! 🖤
