About this listen

A dead body.

A missing daughter.

A silver blade.

All the clues point to one person: Me.

My name is Evangeline, and I’m a retired assassin who wants nothing to do with the underworld. But an edict from a Demonic Lord forces me to return to the man and the life I left behind.

I have seven days to prove my innocence.

Whoever set me up is going to die.

“Xai…”

His fingers knotted in my ponytail as he yanked my head back to the angle he preferred.

Oh, I knew that look. Nothing good ever came from that look.

I flattened my palms against his bare chest, but he pushed right through my physical barrier and took my mouth with a ferocity that screamed possession. His tongue demanded entrance, and when I tried to fight him, he bit my lip hard enough to bleed. On my gasp, he entered and unleashed his desire in a kiss that deprived me of oxygen.

My knees threatened to buckle under his assault. He took my mouth the way he did my body, reminding me who we were to each other with a few bold strokes. I melted for him, as I always did.

God, I missed this.

I missed him.

I hated it. Loved it. Craved it...."

Daughter of Death is a standalone paranormal romance with dark elements, demons, angels, a sadistic alpha male, blood, and a lot of dead bodies. What can I say? Eve likes her knives, and Xai enjoys watching her play.

Mixed feelings

So I really wanted to like this book, I love this author and everything she has ever written, but I just couldn’t get into this one for some reason. The MC is so weak when she’s supposed to be this badass assassin, but when it comes to Xai, she bows every time and I just couldn’t get behind that. The story itself wasn’t bad, Eve is accused of murder and Xai and her have to figure out who the real culprit is. I’m more for romance than solving a crime, which is why I didn’t enjoy as much. The narration is amazing by Sarah Puckett, she always does a fantastic job.

Pretty Good

This is a pretty good story with all of the necessary elements to make a good paranormal romance. It has lots of action, drama, mystery, well developed characters and an interesting back story. I felt that sometimes the characters weren't being true to their natures at times. Other than that I really enjoyed this book. Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt did a great job giving the characters a voice and performing the story instead of reading it. They were able to project the right amount of emotion and excitement in the story without over dramatizing it. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next book in this series.

Fabulous Story & Listen🎧 Amazing Fantasy PNR!

This book is amazing, it is well written and well told. The storylines are interesting and action-packed and they mesmerized me from start to end. Lexi C. Foss creates an imaginative world with equally imaginative characters and supernatural beings. The world dynamics are fascinating, as are the different types of demons and angels. The author does a great job explaining these characters, giving descriptive details and explanations of who is what and what they do. Eve, “Evangeline”, a fallen angel who is also the daughter of death and a former assassin for the Demon Lord is one bad ass chick. I admire her strength, courage and no nonsense approach. Xie, the son of Chaos and the last person Eve wanted to see. But in he walks telling her the Demon Lord has summoned her. She has a love/hate relationship with Xie, she wants to love him, he doesn’t want to love her so she hates him instead. LOL! I loved the chemistry and the banter between the two, you can just tell they were made for each other. Eve finds out she is wrongfully accused of something and Xie is going to help clear her name. I liked how everything plays out, from the investigation, where it brought them, to finding out who was behind it and what they had planned. There is never a dull moment, there is plenty of drama, action, twists, thrilling suspense that takes you to the edge of your seat as well as some hot romance. Lexi C. Foss, thank you for this amazing story, I am looking forward to what comes next in the Dark Provenance series.

I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. They do an amazing job projecting the emotions of the character into their performance, as well as the drama and excitement of the story. It is like they are bringing you in alongside those characters. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

Paranormal Romance

Daughter of Death by Lexi C. Foss is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt. This is book one in The Dark Provenance Series but the books can be read as standalones. Book two is already released. However, it is not on audio yet.

Lexi did an amazing job with the storyline. I enjoyed the romance, drama, and action that surrounded Xai and Eve. There were just enough sexual scenes to make it a paranormal romance but not enough to distract from the storyline. The only downfall of the storyline is you don’t get much of Xai’s point of view. However, it looks like book two may be his perspective as the storyline continues.

Sarah did an amazing job narrating. I absolutely love her as a narrator. She just has a way of pulling you into the storyline. Tristan did a great job with his narration. However, he only got two chapters of the book to read. Here is to hoping to hear more from him in book two when its turned into an audiobook.
