About this listen

With Joy, Love, and a Little Trepidation, Courtney, Sienna, and Rachel Invite You to the Most Emotional Wedding of the Year - Their Mother's

Courtney - the Misfit

As the awkward one, Courtney Watson may not be as together as her sisters, but she excels at one thing: keeping secrets, including her white-hot affair with a sexy music producer. Planning Mom's wedding exposes her startling hidden life, changing her family's view of her - and how she views herself - forever.

Sienna - the Free Spirit

When Sienna's boyfriend proposes - in front of her mom and sisters, for crying out loud - he takes her by surprise. She already has two broken engagements under her belt. Should she say "I do" even if she's not sure she does?

Rachel - the Cynic

Rachel thought love would last forever - right up until her divorce. As Mom's wedding day draws near and her ex begs for a second chance, she's forced to acknowledge some uncomfortable truths about why her marriage failed and decide if she'll let pride stand in the way of her own happily ever after.

A must-listen for anyone who has survived the wedding of a sister, a mother, or a daughter - as told by the master storyteller of the genre.

I loved this book and was truly sorry when it came to an end. The interaction between the sisters rang true to me. I found this book to have more emotional depth than many other books in similar genres, something I really appreciated.

I would love to know if Susan Mallery's favorite drink is a Margarita. :)

If you haven't gotten this book, get it and enjoy!.

I was shocked at the end. Five minutes of this book is menus and recipes. Really? You've got to be kidding?!?!?

This book was a slow burner romance. It wasn’t really slow, but it was a steady build up with four different subplots converging to the middle, which was the Maggie’s wedding.
Maggie was getting married and her three daughters, Rachel, Sienna and Courtney were assisting her to execute her plans. As they worked, the reader was given insight to each daughter’s life and their “role” in the overall family dynamics. The three girls, Rachel, Sienna and Courtney seem to fall into stereotypical characters.

Working on this wedding allowed each of the ladies to grow individually as well as collectively. Their journey was entertaining as well as inspiring. I enjoyed the story without feeling like it was preachy. I appreciate the author for not making it overly dramatic but a journey were the characters grew from their mistakes and found inner strength to be more.
This is my first book by Susan Mallery but her writing was definitely solid. The narrative was well developed and flowed well. I didn’t have difficulty following what was going on and I felt satisfied with the ending. I look forward to trying other series by this author.

Nice journey for mom and daughters

Loving Susan Mallory

I have kept debating on writing this review or not as I don't like leaving negative feedback. After seeing it in my library again, I knew I needed to share. The book was okay... the best couple is a couple way to far apart in age for my liking. As a woman of a similar age, Quinn is just too old for Courtney! Her relationship and growth is by far the best in the book and that doesn't say a lot as sometimes I am grossed out by how much older than her he is!

Sienna is just dumb and obviously doesn't like the guy she is with, even though it takes the entire book for her to figure what she really thinks of him. She seems kind of too good for everyone and complains a lot.

Rachel's marriage really doesn't change all that much from beginning to end. I couldn't see her and her relationship growing at all. It was basically we hate each other but we have a kid so lets be civil even though you cheated on me. Then it was all okay, lets get back together. She complains about no one helping her and doing everything on her own but she put herself in that boat. I guess this is what she ultimately figures out but it is just a day and night thing from the entire book to almost the last page.

I just didn't feel as though there was enough character growth with any of these women. There relationships were kind of boring and pointless. I had to force myself to finish the book as there wasn't anything exciting going on. I kept hoping it would pick up but it just doesn't.

Just okay...wouldn't read again. Wish I hadn't!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story yes, but not in audio with this narrator

What did you like best about this story?

It's a typical Susan Mallery novel and doesn't stray far from her usual books. There seemed to be a little less humor in this one, but it's hard to tell because the narrator caused it to be a real challenge to listen to

How could the performance have been better?

It could ONLY get better

What would have made this romance irresistible?

It needed more fun and less serious situations.

Any additional comments?

I'm not the type that tries to be a critic with witty comments about the book's story, the author or the narrator, but this is truly one of the worst narrations I've listened to in over 10 years of audio book listening

Narrator destroys the story

Boring. I kept listening just to finish. The best thing about this book...was the fact that it was finally over.

Boring.
