About this listen

New: Now includes an interactive table of contents with books and chapters of the Bible for easy audio navigation!*

Ever since he became a Christian at the age of forty, it has been Poirot actor David Suchet's dream to make an audio recording of the Bible. In between filming the final episodes of Poirot, David Suchet spent over 200 hours in the recording studio to create the very first full-length audio version of the NIV Bible spoken by a single British actor. This recording is an excerpt of that Bible.

This audio Bible is also available as an app. The app contains the full text of the New International Version (British Text), so you can easily navigate the audio or read and listen at the same time.

Fantastic. Never tire of hearing Mr. Suchet's reading of the Word. He's not shy to grant perfect inflection with a dash of authority and humility. thank you--

You can make note of the time and just write it in your bible on the chapter…..easy peasy…I already left a review….just wanted to help…If your bible is too holy to write in….put it under a glass and go to walmart and buy a cheap bible you can write in…or ebay…i like old bibles…the paper is thicker.

PS…….you can time stamp and write in your bible

I love David Suchet's reading of the Bible. His voice is calming, pleasant to listen to, and never rushed. It is clear and there is consistency of volume and pace. His warm English accent is soothing. He speaks in a natural and pleasant manor. His pronunciation and enunciation are both clear and even.

(Be sure to read the end of the next paragraph to find out how exactly you can listen to this file and how to access the right books and chapters.)

Now comes the "BUT" - don't even try had to listen to this on an Echo device if you want to be specific about what book, chapter, or verse you'd like to listen to (I would highly recommend the YouVersion Bible skill on Alexa if this is how you want to listen to the Bible). The chapter settings are all over the place. I could find no explainable way to access anything specifically when you are on an Echo device. Here is the other "BUT" - using the Audible app on a phone or tablet works great. Listening to it on one of your other devices in the Audible app gives you the ability to pick precisely the book and chapter. Chapters are not listed as chapter numbers, rather they are listed by book and chapter in this manner; Job chapters 1-42, followed by Psalm chapters 1-150, then Proverbs chapters 1-31, after that Ecclesiastes chapters 1-12, and finally Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon) chapters 1-8.

A quick recap: It is a pleasant read on Audible if you use the app on a phone or tablet. I'd not even attempted listening to it on an Echo device if you want concise books chapters. I would again recommend YouVersion Bible under the Alexa skills for this type of listening.

Wonderful reading...BUT...

Love David Suchet’s reading but find it unhelpful not to be able to SEE the book name, chapter, or verse where my reading was disrupted so I can know precisely where I am in the written version.
