About this listen

With the coming of dawn is the coming of death for a captured English officer in British-controlled Palestine. Elisha, a young Israeli freedom fighter, is his executioner. Ordered to kill the officer in reprisal for Britain's execution of a Jewish prisoner, Elisha thinks about his past, a sorrowful memory of the nightmare of Nazi death camps. As the only surviving member of his family, he dreamt of a wonderful future in his promised homeland. But instead, he finds himself closer to committing heartless murder with the approach of daylight. Dawn presents a haunting glimpse into the soul of one man and a budding nation.©1961, 2006 Elie Wiesel; 1989 Elie Wiesel (P)2006 Recorded Books, LLC. Jewish Heartfelt

Better that DAY - but not as good as NIGHT.

This was a book I purchased because I liked his first book NIGHT. This is nothing like NIGHT - has a different character - the story line is OK - but not what NIGHT was.... It's a short read - and George Guidall is spectacular as always..

Review of Dawn

“Dawn” was a beautifully written account of one of the greatest tragedies and horrific crimes against humanity in the history of the world.

Follow up to Night

Night was striking for its truth and horrific account of what humans can do to others. This is a work of fiction, and more art than truth.

Why must we hate?

Hate is never the answer. Elie Wiesel of all people have reason to hate and chose instead to love. We all should follow his example.

Drama

Too dramatic in Rae singing but not a negative on the little plot. Too much disturbance in the air. Elephant.

Haunting

This is a wonderful and thought provoking novel. George Guidell is a brilliant narrator and is perfect for the reading of this book. That’s all I can say.

Deeply deeply felt words that pull you back and forth with the character's conflicting thoughts and seeing the real meaning and the raw consequences of war.
