About this listen

The new compelling mystery featuring Anglophile Dorothy Martin and her husband, retired policeman Alan Nesbitt …

Dorothy Martin’s husband, Alan Nesbitt, is heavily involved in the complex and lengthy process of choosing a new bishop for Sherebury Cathedral. The very day that the short list is announced publicly, one of the candidates is found murdered in his own church. With a long list of possible suspects, including Alan himself, Dorothy and Alan start to delve into the history of the victim, hoping to find some clue to a motive for murder.

Then a second candidate is found dead, and the case becomes very complicated indeed. Who is murdering England’s clergymen and why …?

I didn’t like the whole storyline - and the idea that 2 out of 4 candidates for a bishopric would be so vile I found unbelievable.

I also thought the wrap up was rushed. So this was not my favorite.

However, it is great to have 6 of the books in this series in the Plus Catalog. I really have enjoyed many of the books because of Dorothy, the sleuth of a certain age, and her second husband Alan, whose police background generally contributes a lot to the solutions (or not!).

These books are generally unhurried (naps are a favorite pastime) and pose a gentle sense of humor. The main characters, Dorothy & Alan, are (about now) in their sixties, but very active and enjoy traveling. Both are well read and Dorothy is good with quotes. The love and respect between the two of them is so nice, I’m almost always happy to go along with them anywhere!

Love Dorothy, but didn’t like the story line
