Publisher's summary

In this delightful third book, Alethea Kontis weaves together some fine-feathered fairy tales to focus on Friday Woodcutter, the kind and loving seamstress. When Friday stumbles upon seven sleeping brothers in her sister Sunday's palace, she takes one look at Tristan and knows he's her future. But the brothers are cursed to be swans by day. Can Friday's unique magic somehow break the spell?

Excellent Fairy Tale Retelling

Sunday will always be my favorite Woodcutter sister, but this book was nearly as enjoyable as "Enchanted." After finding out that it's based not only on "The White Swans" and "The Goose Girl" but also an Armenian folktale called "A Weave of Words" that sounds remarkably progressive, I like this story even more!

Lovely as expected!

I have read (and own) all of the Wiodcutter related books. (Enchanted, Hero, Trixter, and Dearest) I adore each and every one. I cannot wait for the others to come out! I love Alethea's imagination and storytelling abilities! This book series is great for all ages!

A fantastic addition to the series.

This light read made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Aletha Kontis has a gift when it comes to writing romantic fantasies.

Beautiful story, Fantastic narrator

Kontis weaves a beautiful, haunting tale that Kellgren brings to life. It's definitely something I'd listen to again and I felt comfortable listening to it with my young kids in the car.

Such a lovely story..

If you could sum up Dearest in three words, what would they be?

Sweet, lovely, surprising

Any additional comments?

This series has turned out to be one of my favorite fairy tale retellings. The way Kontis involves so many different fairy tales is so enjoyable. This one had bits of the Seven (6 in the original Grimm) Swans, The Goose Girl, and a hint of Peter Pan.

Friday is the sixth Woodcutter sister and she gets a bad rap for being dull. I must disagree wholeheartedly. She is pure of heart and incredibly brave and loving. She is a princess, yet she takes all of the refugee children under her wing and teaches them the value of being useful.

She sets about to help a cursed princess and her seven brothers when she discovers them by mistake one night after chasing down a dog. The brothers are endlessly entertaining. I especially loved the twins (as I have twin brothers) and their sense of humor.

I'm just really happy about this book. 5 Stars. Keep 'em coming, Ms. Kontis!

a favorite

This follows Friday's story. I love seeing her develop into a strong character when it had seemed she was timid before. As before the narrator does an amazing job. This also follows one of my favorite stories about the 7 Brothers turned into swans.

Volume is important

Cute mixture of stories, though I can't quite tell what the survivors learned from their experience. It does seem that one's chances of survival depend on how loud Kellgren's voice gets. I'd add this book to the several who are writing similar such, but perhaps not on the top of the pile.
