About this listen

American medieval history professor Dotsy Lamb and her best friend, Lettie Osgood, are working an archaeological dig in the Scottish Highlands on the grounds of Dunlaggan Castle when murder strikes. The victim is genial, well-liked graduate student Froggy Quale, the on-site pollen and spore expert. His roommate, the dig's media man, is the prime suspect, but Dotsy, quite fond of both boys, is convinced otherwise.

When the head of the dig, Dr. John Sinclair, dies of unnatural causes soon thereafter, Dotsy shovels a little deeper, suspecting there are some buried secrets in a dark family history. Closing in on a clever and desperate killer, Dotsy makes a stunning connection to poisoned mushrooms, ghostly noises echoing through the halls, and the discovery of a centuries-old gold coin that could rewrite the history of the 11th century.

Pretty good

It's not as good as the first but it's still an entertaining cozy mystery. I look forward to the next book in this series.

The narration was GREAT!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It's a murder mystery with lots of twists and turns with an unpredictable ending.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dottsie Lamb, of course... the heroine.

What does Eliza Jane Schnider bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings a soft voice with just the right amount of acting thrown in. The dialects are very helpful to differentiate the characters, and she doesn't sound like someone who is "trying to imitate "British" or "Scottish."

Her accents, nor her read distract from the story. They enhance it. It's as if she's experiencing the story with us.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"The Butler Didn't Do It!"

Any additional comments?

I will be specifically looking for more books by Eliza Jane Schneider.
