About this listen

When librarian Kathleen Paulson moved to Mayville Heights, Minnesota, she had no idea that two strays would nuzzle their way into her life. Owen is a tabby with a catnip addiction and Hercules is a stocky tuxedo cat who shares Kathleen's fondness for Barry Manilow. But beyond all the fur and purrs, there's something more to these felines.

When murder interrupts Mayville's Music Festival, Kathleen finds herself the prime suspect. More stunning is her realization that Owen and Hercules are magical - and she's relying on their skills to solve a purr-fect murder.

Enjoyable

I needed a light read and I prefer mysteries. I'm also a crazy cat person! This was a good choice.

A fun cozy mystery - made more enjoyable with cats!

I really liked this cozy mystery. It had its usual cliches as cozy mysteries go, however I was still surprised at the end by who did it.
The best though was the conversations that are always happening with the cats and Kathleen. As a crazy cat lady myself who talks to her cat, it was entirely relatable. A fun little listen!

very good story

loved it. I listen on the drive to and from work and I'll bet some other drivers thought I was crazy when they would look over at me laughing.

Cute... but a little long!

A rather simple story. Still, all in all, a pleasant piece of entertainment if you like kitsch stuff.

Fun Listen!

What did you love best about Curiosity Thrilled the Cat?

I bought this on a whim and it was an enjoyable listen all the way through. One can tell the author is owned or has been owned by cats.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Curiosity Thrilled the Cat?

I HAVE to find a "Fred the Funky Chicken" for my cat now......

Fun, but not stand out

An easy listen, like most cosy mysteries are. Fun too, as a cat lover, but a bit silly ( invisible cat and cat who can walk through walls). Will happily listen to another cat adventure, but as there is soo much to choose from in the cosy mystery genre, it will more likely be a Royal Spyness, Agatha Raisen ect

wonderful

Any book involving cats has to be good. This one in purrtickler. Still don't understand how cats got their powers though.

Promising "Cozy" Series

I often read for relaxation, so I'm always on the lookout for new "cozy" series. This is one of the best I've found recently.

One thing that appealed to me right away was that the story takes place in Minnesota, which is where I live. The fictional town of Mayville is situated on Lake Pepin. There are several real Minnesota towns in similar locations - it is a beautiful part of the state. I've visited the area often, so it was easy for me to visualize Mayville.

The pace is brisk, with a mysterious death occuring early in the story. Numerous clues are found, some are "red herrings." I wasn't able to guess the final solution until it was revealed near the end of the book.

Though I like cats, I would not describe myself as "cat person." Owen and Hercules, the main "cat characters", have some very unusual abilities that add an element of fantasy to the story.

I liked protagonist Kathleen Paulson. Many other characters are introduced throughout the story. I'm hoping that some of them will show up in future books of this series.

The 10 plus hours of this story went by quickly for me. I plan to listen to more books in this series.

Magic or not...you decide!

I can't say it often enough...I love stories for the pure pleasure and entertainment they provide. With that in mind, I started this series with the hope that it would be entertaining, but I also need the story to flow and keep me interested in the characters and plot. I was not disappointed in any of the above. The characters kept getting better and although the idea of magical cats is the fantasy, you can really wrap your senses around the idea of it. I wasn't sure about the narrator at first, but as the story took shape, I realized that she was just right for the story line and she makes the characters come alive. I now have the second book and plan on eventually getting more in the series. Definitely worth the credit!
