About this listen

Welcome to Boring, Indiana, home to patio cookouts, homeowner dues, carpeted lawns, and neighbors so welcoming they're dying to meet you - literally.

City slicker turned suburbanite housewife Laura Berry isn't taking well to life in her new neighborhood. She moved to follow her husband's dream, and now she can't tell if she's clinically depressed or just bored half to death. But Boring becomes anything but when Laura discovers her neighbor Candace Flynn face up on a sofa with her hand buried in a snack bag.

With a healthy dose of neighborly suspicion and street smarts, Laura sets out to find Flynn's killer, but her curiosity becomes desperation when the killer targets Laura. Someone is determined to stop her from digging deeper into the murder, but Laura is just as determined to figure out who's behind the death-by-poisoned-pork-rinds.

I enjoyed this mystery . I'm always surprised at who did it and this one was no different. I look forward to Christy's next mystery.

I love who done its

...if you can imagine St. Mary Mead, fifty years later and plunked down in the middle of the US, that is.

In a small subdivision in Boring, IN, everybody thinks they know everybody else's business, but when the Couch King's wife is found dead, deeply kept secrets begin to surface.

Christy Barritt's cozy mystery is filled with humor and suspense. The characters are finely portrayed by narrator, Christa G. Lewis. I was particularly fond of Laura's snoopy septuagenarian neighbor.

After a slow first chapter, the book rolls on more smoothly and becomes a fun listen.

Not unlike a modern day Christie...

This book was a bit love hate for me. I really did like the characters and quirky town. There were some moments I really enjoyed and others that I simply tolerated.

I really liked Laura and her friend Babe. They are quite the pair. There are times when Laura gets angsty, sure she has stuff to deal with but the whining is a touch annoying. When she is not mopey she is rather fun to read. The supporting cast is also quite entertaining. The town of Boring is far from it!

The mystery was intriguing, not what I expected in the end. I kind of thought the twist would be more somehow. I hate it when my imagination comes up with a better situation than the book presents. This is what comes from being a prolific reader.

This was billed as a religious mystery, not a lot of content in that direction. I expected more mentions of church or scriptures, or something. I did not really know what to expect, while I was not looking for preaching, I did think there would be more mentions throughout.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Christa G. Lewis, who really kept me listening. I loved her voice and she had a great energy in the read. She has one of those voices that lends itself to a mystery, she was bringing with curiosity! Throughout the book she has a great pace that keeps the story moving at trying moments. She is a true compliment to the book.

Interesting but not amazing

...sounds like she is either half asleep, trying to seduce you, or just plain over-dramatic. Skipped to the end to see "who done it". Story was good.

story okay, narrator super annoying...

Although this story line was shorter than I’m used to with a Christy Barritt suspense novel, the characters and plot were delightful!

Delightfully tongue in cheek

This book had so many laughs...Boring IN...light-hearted yet a serious murder mystery. This was a fun yet clean book with funny names of locations with a serious murder mystery. I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to one and all.

what a good Christian mystery

I thoroughly enjoyed the book (as I have a whacky sense of humour) and it as cleverly written with good defeating evil and showing that God works out the whackiest of circumstances to grow us and help us fulfil our mandate from Him. The narrator-ship was very well done too.

It was a lovely book with a lot of laughs, if you have a whacky sense of humour!
