About this listen

Will love elude the Grim Reaper's daughter forever?

Zelda had long ago determined she wasn't datable. She'd been 17, dressed in a gorgeous black strapless, and ready to party. But then her dad had waved around his scythe, turned on the glowing red eyes, and her prom date couldn't get away fast enough. She'd been dateless ever since. What eligible, sane guy wants to date the Grim Reaper's daughter?

the grim reaper's daughter makes a love connection

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely YES!!!! I love this author and this series. I have read the series and am now listening to it. The narrator does a great job of "being" Zelda.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Mark and Zelda and well Zelda's dad too. Zelda is so funny, Mark is a sweetheart and her dad well who doesn't love a dad who loves his daughter.

What does Sonja Field bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice makes me really see each character but especially Zelda. She just seems like she is Zelda.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed so much!!!

Any additional comments?

love this series & highly recommend

Dating Delimmas and Career Crises

This was the third installment in the series and sadly I am guessing the last that will be available (there looks like there was a 4th volume in 2017 but it is not available to purchase as book/kindle/audible). Again as I've mentioned in other reviews of Cate's series I wish they would just do an anthology collection in one purchase instead of forcing the listener to buy such short stories individually. I do however love this series, love the over arching concept of the Goode Witch Glenda and the very unique matches she makes that are really more about helping people overcome magical obstacles and enjoy their life with a partner. I also love the different areas of magic being tackled here. In this tale we see the daughter of the grim reaper himself struggling to meet her match. Glenda won't let that stand and does what she does best to help our story's heroine overcome her own internal obstacles to find love. There are some great elements that connect both the main character, her father, and Glenda's team and provide a glimpse of the greater world operating at the periphery. I actually wish this series would have continued as I find it fascinating and fresh, filled with light humor, magic, and romance. Again this is very hallmark/lifetime guaranteed happy ending where the tension doesn't last long and everything gets tied up neatly. I was sad to be finishing and not have any more available especially as I read the description of the 4th edition which picked up with the Grim Reaper from this book looking for love. I will instead try and satisfy myself by listening to the other series that Cate has on offer, highly recommend this for those who like the first two.
