Publisher's summary

Year 2522. Oh. My. Stars.

Junior Officer Ara Lawrence here, reporting for duty. Again. It's situation critical for the security team and everyone in the base - including my parents - with a new attack from the looters imminent, a possible galaxy-wide crime conspiracy and an unstoppable alien threat. But this all pales in the face of my mind-blowing discovery about the Q-net. Of course, no one believes me. I'm not sure I believe me. It could just be a stress-induced delusion. That's what my parents seem to believe.

Their concern for me is hampering my ability to do my job. I know they love me, but with the Q-net in my corner, I'm the only one who can help the security team beat the shadowy aliens from the pits we discovered. We're holding them at bay for now, but the entire Milky Way Galaxy is in danger of being overrun.

With battles on too many fronts, it's looking dire. But one thing I've learned is when people I love are in jeopardy, I'll never give up trying to save them. Not until my dying breath. Which could very well be today.

Insanely good!

This was an insanely good book!!!
Defending the Galaxy is the third and final installment of Sentinels of the Galaxy, and each and every one of the books is So Dang Good!
I was a little bit reluctant to start the novel because I feared that it would be all about Q-net (Whoops! Don't know what that means? Read Navigating the Stars: book 1 and then book 2. Don't stop, don't slow down!). Now that you're back... I feared the book would be all about Q-net, and not have enough action for me, but Maria V Snyder never let me down, and Defending the Galaxy starts where Chasing the Shadows ends. It's a seamless transition from book to book... kinda' like breathing!
All the key elements are there! From the Terracotta Warriors, to the Q-net and of course our protagonist, Ara Lawrence along with the  security team, all wanting to Defend the Galaxy from an imminent Alien invasion!
Unfortunately, Ara's mother has become an overprotective Dragon (a secret nickname Ara uses) and she's been grounded!
Gabra Zackman is one of my favorite voice talents and she once again brings Ara's story to life, making this one of the best books that I've read/listened to in 2021! Here's to more happy stories in 2021, from Maria V Snyder and Gabra Zackman!

Great end to the trilogy!

I very much enjoyed this story. Gabra Zackman's narration is great as per usual. Maria V. Snyder science fiction concepts are interesting and different from her usual style. She has a knack for creating engaging characters you can't help but root for.

makes up for everything lacking in the first two

maria V. Snyder is one of my favorite authors. these books start out slow with a lot more teenage angst than the other books she's written. when she finally unveils the secrets in the series and the meaning behind everything. the series, the twists and everything was very enjoyable. this book is by far the best of the three if your on the fence after the second on weather the series is worth it. it is. a lot more grown up decisions and fantasy elements that don't involve teenage romance. would recommend. other than the third book I wouldn't recommend the series completely it really brought it all together. I enjoyed this specific book in the trilogy more than others written by Snyder. thanks for the good listen. and narrator was great as always!

Another Great Adventure from Snyder!

Thoroughly enjoyed this series, along with Snyder's other stories, this is also a home run! Gabra did a fantastic job narrating and bringing the story to life (as per usual). Even tho this is more of a YA book, I'm in my 30s and I loved it. Snyder's world building, character and plot development is awesome, engaging and so entertaining. She's now one of my favorites along with Gabra! Definite A-team action here! Alright, hurry up and write / narrate more stories please, thanks!

Seriously one of the best

I loved this. I get so tired of the will they won’t they, the inevitable breakup- while saving the planet- the country- the galaxy- etc…. This was fantastic. Focusing on the situation- the mystery- the actual problem, not just the teenage love story. The ending was very pleasing. Just all in all a great trilogy.
There’s your typical teenage angst here and there, but she manages to view the problem from not just her own perspective but others as well. Loved it.
