About this listen

He was a hard-working small business owner, an Army veteran, an attentive lover, and a doting father. But he was also something more, something sinister.

A master of deception, he was a rapist, arsonist, bank robber, and a new breed of serial killer, one who studied other killers to perfect his craft. In multiple states, he methodically buried kill-kits containing his tools of murder years before returning and putting them to use. Viewing the entire country as his hunting grounds, he often flew to distant locations where he rented cars and randomly selected his victims. Such were the methods and madness of serial killer Israel Keyes. Such were the demands of the “Devil in the Darkness.”

This book is the first detailed account ever published about Israel Keyes. It contains exclusive personal information about this frightening serial killer gleaned from extensive interviews with his former fiancee.

The book was a good recap of Israel Keys and I heard new information that I was previously not aware of. I live in Anchorage so I was pretty up to date with the case prior to listening to this book. I recommend this book, especially if you study the world of serial killers. This guy was unique.

SOME NEW INFORMATION

narrator is just saying words, not storytelling. like he’s reading out a grocery list. blah.

blah narrator

The book is probably good, but listening to a voice performer who sounds like he is narrating To Kill a Mockingbird for elementary schools completely ruins it. Guy thinks everyone has a 1930s Southern accent. Cringe.

Annoying Narration

This book follows, almost word for word, the book American Predator. There is nothing new here. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Don’t get duped like I did.

I would say this is the worst reader I have ever listened to on audible. he has as much emotional inflection as a set of Ikea furniture instructions. I would rather listen to my high school English teacher drone on for hours than this nonsense. also the story is very poorly written it does not make you want to listen to it more than about 20 minutes.

skip this. SO DULL!!
