Publisher's summary

In Loretta Nyhan’s warm and witty Amazon Charts bestselling novel, a widow discovers an unexpected chance to start over - right in her own backyard.

Paige Moresco found her true love in eighth grade - and lost him two years ago. Since his death, she’s been sleepwalking through life, barely holding on for the sake of her teenage son. Her house is a wreck, the grass is overrun with weeds, and she’s at risk of losing her job. As Paige stares at her neglected lawn, she knows she’s hit rock bottom. So she does something entirely unexpected: she begins to dig.

As the hole gets bigger, Paige decides to turn her entire yard into a vegetable garden. The neighbors in her tidy gated community are more than a little alarmed. Paige knows nothing about gardening, and she’s boldly flouting neighborhood-association bylaws. But with the help of new friends, a charming local cop, and the transformative power of the soil, Paige starts to see potential in the chaos of her life. Something big is beginning to take root - both in her garden and in herself.

Overcoming hard things.

This was a fun and overall good story. It was a little valley girl for me, either the narrator or how it was written? I did enjoy it other than that and it was entertaining.

Lovely story- feel good without the cliche

Easy listening and fun. But the narrators attempt at a British accent is terrible. Luckily that is only applied a little bit in some chapters. Great love able characters.

simple story, well written, great voices

simple story, well written, great voices. I was disappointed with how the author clipped many of the story lines short. There was so much potential.
it seemed like the writer was just done with this story and took a short cut to the finish line.
That being said, I enjoyed the book until the last chapter.

Overall good story

But as others commented, the narrator was good with female voices but pretty painful with male.

Fabulous narrator, interesting story.

I enjoyed this book, it was interesting and well written, and I am in awe of the narrator. How she can perform so many different characters in such a credible and solid manner, is impressive.

Pleasant

Slow but entertaining story of a widow finding her way. There are some quirky characters. Slight spoiler ahead: I liked that the guy coming into her life was a regular guy verses a billionaire, etc etc. The narrator is easy to listen to.

Enjoyed the story - BUT ...

I really enjoyed the story line. It would have made a pleasant read. BUT, although the narrator has a lovely "regular" voice, her character switches and accents were uneven and deplorable.

Light read, troublesome narration

This novel is like a Hallmark movie. It’s light and a bit cheesy at times, but if that’s the mood you’re looking for, it’s just fine.

The narration was delightful for the main character, but many of the male voices seem utterly incongruous to the character descriptions and the accents for Af-Am and Cockney characters were excruciating.
