About this listen

What if a microchip could identify your perfect match? What if it could be used against you and the ones you love? Eight years ago, Mercer Corporation’s M-Bands became mandatory. An evolution of the smartphone, the bracelets promised an easier life. Instead, they have come to control it. Two years ago, Maggie Stevens watched helplessly as one of the people she loves most was taken from her, shattering her world as she knew it. Now, Maggie is ready. And Quentin Mercer – heir to the M-Corp empire – has become key to Maggie’s plan. But as the pieces of her dangerous design fall into place, could Quentin’s involvement destroy everything she’s fought for? In a world full of broken promises, the ones Maggie must keep could be the most heartbreaking.©2014 Jessica Shirvington (P)2014 Bolinda Publishing Dystopian Fantasy Fiction Science Fiction Science Fiction & Fantasy

This is the worst narrator I have ever heard. It's a good book but she randomly slips from Midwestern, Brooklyn and then even southern accents and occasionally just says a word in a way it has never been said before. The book is great but I was dissapointed the second book didn't have a different narrator. She definitely lied on her resume.

I had to update just to say that listening to corruption she hasn't gotten any better. I've never heard anyone say a word that sounds so absolutely terrible. She does the weirdest things with her voice. Like one second she is fine, the next second it makes you want to reach through the phone and shake her. Like why are you doing this!?! Just speak normally for heavens sake

Worst narrator ever

Not much to complain but the narrator needs to work on her male performances… She plays them all the same. With a tired and weird tone that never seems to match what they’re saying. I had to replay them in my head because she made them extremely BORING!!! I almost gave up listening to it because of how bad the male characters were portrayed by the woman!

Great story but super underwhelming narration

This YA novel has an unlikable headstrong main character, she's so obnoxious and selfish and gets her way all the time no matter who's life she ruins in the way _which is why I like this novel tbh _ 🙊🤭
The author didn't try to make me fall in love with her mc, and I liked that, and I like that the dystopian element has to do with technological advancement, it was shady and I was her for it.

A good YA novel!

I couldn't finish despite being interested in the story because the narrator pronounces certain words like she's never seen them before.

narrator 's weird pronunciation is distracting

The story was just 'meh', but what really stood out was the narrator. She pronounces words weird, like 'draw' instead of 'drawer' and 'haahvered' instead of 'hovered'. I looked her up and found out she's Australian, so I guess that makes sense since Australian is a very strong accent to throw off.

Annoying Narrator
