About this listen

Denny

I hate customers. Do I really have to make sure they’re happy? For the love of God! I make sweet things and chocolate, how can anyone be upset with that?

It’ll all get better when I see Sam’s face around lunch time. He’ll come in and have his donuts while flirting with me. My niece will be taking candid photos in the background even though she’s not supposed to have her phone out while she’s working, but the photos are worth it!

Officer Sam has this smile that makes everything seem a little bit filthy, but when he eats my donuts his look of peaceful serenity makes me shudder a little. Between that smile and his mismatched eyes I know I’m already a goner. My only issue is the fact that he’s got it stuck in his head that he’s my Knight in Shining Armor. I can take care of myself, but he’d rather do it for me.

Sam

After Dee-Dee’s got robbed and I saw the look on the owner’s face I couldn’t stop myself from taking on extra patrols around the little strip mall. It was just a bonus that the sexy baker made the best donuts I had ever eaten in my entire life. Which is saying a lot because I’m older than dirt.

Even with the robber in jail it didn’t feel right to leave him and his niece alone out here at night. They should be safe, so why do I feel like something bad is looming just around the corner?

It doesn’t matter anyway, whatever it is won’t get past me. My mate and his kin will stay safe even if I have to raise Hell to protect them. And it might just come down to that.

Sad to said but I want my credit back...

I wanted to like it but it was really hard to.
The story doesn't have a good flow, its just all messy. First two caps were just not relevant (besides the robbery part), there is only chapters with Danny which is sad because his side of the story gets old and we don't have the chance to get to know Sam's point of view.
It's hard to keep up cause they don't have a lot of interactions and suddenly (even before the first date) Danny is talking about being in love. After the attack two weeks go by and just then we see the two of them having a conversation, and Danny doesn't even know the name of the cop, but a few phrases in the narrative later (and in another day) he suddenly has a full profile of Sam.
A big problem for me was to get over the issue that was to suddenly have them in a place different from the one they were in the beginning of the conversation. Is like the author doesn't know how to make a transition in the narrative, once you notice that it gets really annoying and hard to go on.
About the narrator: not the worst but it could be better. He tries to do different voices but sometimes is too fake and on others it doesn't work because you can't distinguish whose character that was supposed to be.
