There are unexplained deaths and hauntings in the town of Donbridge. All may be the work of a hooded figure, but others think it's something far more sinister. One thing's for sure: the graves don't stay closed for long in Donbridge.

The story of Donbridge begins with the tale of the ring of Lazarus. Think The Princess Bride style of tale but darker. Two children being told of Donbridge and the ring by their grandmother with occasional interruption. The story is a good quick listen and transports you to a world that will suck you in in the short time and leave you waiting for the next tale if this dark place. Not a good book.

This book had a very original feel to me. The book starts with a grandmother making chilli for her grandsons. She begins to tell them a story, and that story is where the real plot starts. I listened to the audiobook, and I felt like I was there with the boys while grandma told the story. I've never read anything that gave me that feeling before. The actual story was pretty interesting. I'm curious to see how the series goes. I really enjoyed this audiobook. I hope the next is structured the same way, with the grandma telling the story.

Where does Donbridge: The Ring of Lazarus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This story wasn't as spooky as a lot of the horror stories I've heard recently - though I'd recommend it for fans of suspense and classic campfire tales

Who was your favorite character and why?

I'm personally a fan of the old lady telling the story to her grandchildren after dinner, I love the conspiratorial family feel to the story that comes from her presence.

What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

By pacing the story out well and reading at an even pace, the narrator manages to add an extra element of suspense to the story that you wouldn't feel if you were reading it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This story didn't particularly move me, though it did leave me feeling a little unsettled

Is Granny deliberately scaring the kids?!

This is a short, fun read/listen. Based on the author's boyhood spent listening to his grandmother tell him fairy tales of upstate New York, we listen as young brothers hear the story of the fate that befell a young girl as she walked through the woods. It will put a smile on your face.

Well narratives, too.

Enjoyable story for young and old

This story seemed to be more of a telling of a folk tale. I did nt feel it was scary, more mysterious.
