Critic reviews

“Fun, engrossing, and significant.... History in Davis’s hands is loud, coarse, painful, funny, irreverent - and memorable.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

Very well performed narration of our history

Very well performed narration of our history, in an interesting and enjoyable way. The information was vast, yet only a breif portion of our nation's history. It was also very complex, yet easily digestible. The author mainly discusses US history in chronological order, but occasionally bounces back and forth, all the way still offering an orderly and easy to understand story that captivates the audience.

The true history of America.

Loved it! True history, without the built-in propaganda. This is what our kids should be learning in school. Great work by the author.

Good book. Liberal slant

Liberal slant on events covered and depth of coverage and definitely a heavy bias but fair enough and quite well written and interesting.

Worth reading

Learned a lot about the history and workings of the U.S.A. government. Am surprised to see how we repeat the same errors. However, it seems that for each crisis there was a man (or men) who rose to the occasion.

Great book!

This book is a great overview of American history starting from the very early discovery years all the way through Obama's presidency. I moved to the United States from Latin America and it has been a great way of understanding the history of the country where I now live.

informative but…

having gone through a 7 year court battle against b of a, wells fargo and nationstar. I have been on the inside while the mortgage backed securities fraud was happening. i have over 300 hours of audio and video with my dealings with these banks and even then AG Kamala Harris and an mountian of documents. this book was so far off the mark on what happened, it makes the rest of the information suspect and i can’t take it seriously, however i did find it enjoyable.

One of the best history books I've read!

This book does a great job on getting you up to speed on the key points of American history, and it does so in an interesting and sometimes humorous way.
Highly recommend. One of the best history books I've read.

History for the win

History made exciting and easily digestible. This book is a reminder that US history is short and in it's infancy and yet constantly repeats.

Like drinking from a firehouse!

Great material which is well presented but too much for me as a book club read.
