About this listen

A bit of Christmas magic in Cornwall

A few days before Christmas 1939, Dr. Benjamin Bones is in a "Bah, humbug" sort of mood. It's the coldest winter on record, his country is at war, and his love life has run aground. But magic as well as mysteries abound in Cornwall. When Ben makes a bargain with an elfin little man, it leads him to an old woman who longs to make amends - and a chance for Ben to show that certain someone how much he cares.

Listeners who enjoyed the Dr. Benjamin Bones Mysteries, Marriage Can Be Murder and Divorce Can Be Deadly, will adore this holiday tale of love lost and love found featuring Dr. Bones and Lady Juliet.

A delightful little gem for the holiday season, perfect in every way except that it is simply too brief! I am so in love with both Dr Bones and Lady Julia, and with their special relationship; I cannot accept that there is merely a v brief Valentine tale to come, and then no more of them. I shall have to be content with listening over and over to the 2 full-length stories about them: Marriage Can be Murder, and Divorce Can be Deadly Hope I have called them correctly.
They mightn’t sound like romances, but they are, and in the v best sense of the word.

It was like a tiny treasure...unfolding too quickly... and over when I wanted to savor more of the prose...
A little gift from the author for the season...
Nicely done

I won this in a giveaway on the wonderfully talented Emma Jameson's Facebook page.

I have not read the other Dr. Bone's books as of yet, and I'm sure I would have enjoyed this even more if I had. I am also even more certain I will read them in future.
This is a novella set between the second and third books in the series, with a bit of magic and mystery, and a great deal of sweetness. If you have read the series, this is a must! If you haven't, please do.
The narration by the outstanding Matthew Lloyd Davies only made my enjoyment more complete.

Lovely!

Love this author. Love the narrator. Love the series. This builds on previous books but can be enjoyed on its own.

Love it

This was a mildly interesting, slow paced Christmas tale set in England during WW II. I very much enjoyed the various characters and how well Ms Jameson presented them! The narration was also superb. Well worth a listen.

An old-fashioned Christmas story

This was a little better than the first two books but I won't be wasting any more credits on this series.

A little better...
