A story chalked full of emotions warring with duty

I really enjoyed this book, though there was definitely a portion that was heart-wrenching to listen to. The story is well-written and the characters are very well fleshed out. Killian and Serena are both young, but their romance is sweet and powerful and they are far more mature than their ages may imply. Unfortunately, their romance is not any version of simple and only gets more complicated as the story goes on (though there is a brief respite). This is a story chalked full of emotions warring with duty as both Serena and Killian are forced to make excruciating decisions in the name of what's 'best'. While things appear to be going well for the couple at the end of the book, it is clear that there is to be much turmoil ahead. At this point there are many questions yet unanswered and it is very difficult to predict exactly what will happen next. The fact that this book ends in a cliffhanger was incredibly frustrating, but I am most definitely interested in continuing the series!

Karen-Eileen Gordon performed this book beautifully. I think her voice was perfect for the story at hand and it made the story that much more enjoyable (and intense) to listen to.

Great story, great narration!

Awesome book! definitely worth a listen. I love that the author told us what to expect in the beginning. Helped make the decision to listen to this a lot easier. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Book 1

What made the experience of listening to Dragon's Heart the most enjoyable?

I am new to Michelle Rabe and this is the first audiobook of hers that I have listened . Serena and Killian are lifelong friends who fall in love with each other with one problem . He is in line to be king and she is a commoner who doesn’t know her back ground. Outside forces conspire against the couple to tear them apart. The story is written in a beautifully classic love story in such a way that you feel all the emotions her characters are going through.

Dragon's Heart

I was hooked from the beginning of the book. It was intriguing and I wanted to see where the author would take us next but I felt the story jumped from one place to another without being told where or when. I found it confusing at times. This did put me off at times but I did like the characters and the plot.
Would I read the next one in the series? Yes I would.

Dragon's Heart

I am not a huge fan of Fantasy, not because I don’t like it but because I tend to wander when the author is describing the world and building the story.
But this book doesn’t have that! I was like yaya!

I loved the different characters. This world is different but so easy to navigate. I never once felt like I was confused.

Serena and Killian have to fight so much to be together. This is an incredible tail of fighting for what you want. And not accepting things just because, but fight for what you want.
It’s kind of funny that both species think the same for their Royalty.

I also loved the narrator she brought all these character to life in such a way you want to hear more from her. Very enjoyable.

Girl Power..

Any additional comments?

Serena, the female lead, and Killian are lifelong friends who fall in love with each other.

There is a problem though, he is royalty and she is.. not and there are forces working to

separate the couple permanently.

The storyline has just about everything from humans to the Fey.

It also covers deception, love and friendship.

Overall, this was definitely a Good Read filled with Action and a side of Romance.

I am interested in finding out what happens next in the sequel.

Karen-Eileen Gordon did well with the narration.

Different yet very enjoyable

This was such a different story for me to listen to yet I found I really enjoyed it. Serena is an amazing character, she is strong and smart and tough as nails. I loved reading about her life and her struggles.

Narration was great and made the story come alive.

Great world building

This was just great! I truly loved these characters, their sass and attitude really made me like them and feel more connected lol. The trials, the choices (which I TOTALLY screamed at Serena for!) made it more realistic. People don't make the perfect choice the first time around, ad I really enjoyed reading a fantasy story with imperfect characters. The plot is good, very interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending my time in this world! Another to add to my Definitely Continuing Series list!

I wasn't entirely keen on the narrator, which is a personal thing. The strong emphasis every time there was, "he" or "she" bugged me. I'm not sure why. At first I thought the word may have been in italics in the writing, but it was pretty much Every. Single. Time. This is a thing that may not bother anyone else, though! Otherwise, her voice and accent are quite pleasing.

I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys fantasy, dragons, and romance.

A great start to a new series

Dragon's heart was a story about the political power struggles of the two main characters, Serena and Killian. And how their hearts and responsibilities bash heads. When you are a Prince, you don't have the luxury of loving whomever you desire. When you are a list princess your duty is the same as any other position of power. You'll be judged by who you love. They will be your greatest ally, and even greater weakness...

I normally don't read or enjoy political battles for thrones and power and all the things that lie between. They just don't capture me. However, that being said, this wasn't bad at all. It did lack world building and descriptions, which are a must for anything I read or watch. Still, I gave it a shot and wasn't mad that I had.

I'm really lost on how to describe without tossing out spoilers. So, I wont.

I really suggest grabbing this novel of you enjoy the scheming of courts and the secrets a kingdom can hide. It reminded me of the show, Tudors it with fantasy elements. I say that show because it is the ONLY show with that sort of plot that I've seen more than five minutes of.

Killian and Serena made me want to slap the stupid out of them. Sometimes I agreed with them but they both did things that made me out the book down and act out a different reaction. Lol But that it where it is believable and realistic. The way they react, the choices that they make all give you solid characters that are sure of their actions, even if the reader is a screaming at them for it.

4 out of 5 stars. A solid read that didn't disappoint. ☺
