About this listen

Bloomsbury presents The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.

The twist of a knife. The birth of a legend.

Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas.

Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom’s most feared assassin. Though she works for the powerful Assassin’s Guild and its scheming master, Arobynn Hamel, she yields to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance.

If she hopes to escape Arobynn’s clutches, Celaena will have to put her faith in her wits and her blade . . . knowing that if she fails, she’ll lose not just a chance at freedom but her life.

A prequel to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass, this collection of five novellas explores the history of this cunning assassin and her enthralling—and deadly—world.

Included in this volume:
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord
The Assassin and the Healer
The Assassin and the Desert
The Assassin and the Underworld
The Assassin and the Empire

One of my Favorite Series

I adore the world and characters created. I love the build up and different adventures each book has. It is like Lord of the Rings meets Six of Crows meets Anita Blake. Strong female lead, dark urban atmosphere, with fantasy twists plus a massive adventure. I am a fan of the writing and al the plot twists. The book does a great job at bring forth emotional reactions.

Great narrator!

The story was wonderful, but the narrator, Elizabeth Evans, really brought it to life. Her accents, cadence & tone were so enjoyable to listen to. Can’t wait to hear/read more!

Awesome book!!

Again , the Queen Sarah j mass did not disappoint. Awesome book with great plot. I hesitated for a long time reading the throne glass series , but I’m Glad I did. Make sure you read this book first , since it explains a lot of what happens on the first book she wrote.

Wow!

SJM is amazing at what she does! This was amazing! Only regret was the order in which I listened to her series. I decided to save this one for last, DEFINITELY wish I would have listened to this first, or even in book release order. Would have answered a lot of questions I had and filled in a lot of blanks throughout the books. Still, regardless of all that, I loved it!

Really enjoyed

I've read many reviews of readers who struggled with the prequel to Throne of Glass, but I enjoyed it. Although not the most polished writer, Maas knows how to deliver a captivating story. My one regret is reading it after TOG Although not the most polished writer, Maas knows how to deliver a captivating story.

⚠️SPOILER ALERT⚠️

I hated falling in love with a character I knew was going to die. I tried so hard not to grow attached to Sam, but his devotion to Celaena was beautiful. His death was so much worse than I thought it was going to be.
