About this listen

China is not just the size of the United States with four times the population. China is a civilization that has existed for roughly 5,000 years. For most of their history they were - by far - the largest economy and the most powerful and influential people on the planet. When China failed to modernize in the 19th century, Europeans and Americans soon dominated the world. At China's weakest moment during a civil war in the 1930s, Japan invaded - and lost. With the end of WWII, China's civil war resumed, ending in almost total victory for the communists. But their victory remains incomplete, for their rivals fled to the island province of Taiwan, where they have thrived under American protection for 75 years. It was easy to protect Taiwan and maintain its separation from an unusually weak China. But China has been getting stronger for many decades. Now China is on track to become the world's largest economy again. They already have the largest navy, and while the United States is a formidable military foe - American forces are spread around the world and are focused on Ukraine and Russia. China can focus all its forces on their one primary goal - the unfinished business of their civil war - taking control of Taiwan. The Taiwanese people enjoy their freedom, prosperity, and democracy. They don't want to be reunited with the Chinese motherland unless communist rule ends. But the Taiwanese speak of invasion in terms of "when, not if." At some point the United States may be unable or unwilling to prevent a Chinese invasion. Taiwan's generals say China will be ready to invade their island by 2025. U.S. Air Force General Mike Minihan says that war with China is likely "before 2025." Will China invade Taiwan in 2024? There are many reasons to assume the odds will never be more in their favor, and that China will achieve reunification with Taiwan soon - no later than the autumn of 2024. his best work yet!

in his latest book I believe this is the most thought-provoking, relevant and timely works to date.
unless you have been living under a rock you are aware China is our greatest threat to our freedoms and our standard of living. to meet this challenge we must understand our adversary. the history of China is laid out in great detail. one of the fun facts that amazed me is China accounted for 29% of the GNP of the world in 1820. up until the 14th or 15th century China was a world power unequaled. they had trade with many parts of the world and if they wanted to they could have colonized Australia. there were many Chinese ports in Eastern Africa and throughout the world. the complete history of China is laid out in great detail and we learn that the European powers Russia Germany the UK all descended on this country for for wealth and trade. to to understand what is happening today we have to learn and study this history so we can respond appropriately. if you read this book you will understand why we are protecting Taiwan. I am fascinated by the intricacies of the diplomacy in a changing world and I have new respect for the state department and the problems they face. this book is well worth your time and effort to understand what was will happen in the future
