The narration is very good. Seems Ms. Goss has a knack for choosing the right narrator for her books.

Nellie is a devout Christian and fights her attraction for her boss Nicholas, who drinks heavily and associates with women of ill repute. She refuses to be friends with him because "we are judged by the company that we keep". When Nicholas realizes that he is falling for her, he will do anything to win her love. There will be plenty of obstacles along the way, with many outside forces working against them. Will they find happiness? Listen and find out!Drawn From Darkness is Book 4 in the Hearts of Hays Series and can be listened to as a standalone. This was a wonderfully heartwarming story and I liked that Nellie stuck to her principles, even though her head and her heart were sometimes at odds with one another. Nicholas finally realized what was truly missing in his life. The narration was well done and kept me engaged as I listened. Drawn From Darkness was a very enjoyable listen and I would recommend it.

Out of all Barbara Goss books that I have read/listened to this, for me has to be her best one. Usually we get both the male and females POV. Which we do in this book as well, but in her other books we hear more from the females POV then the males. In this book, the reverse happens and I really liked. It made me understand and like him (Nicholas) a lot more. It also helped that the narrator is male and really good. He did the females really well and gave the book something different. This book also made me smile especially when Nicholas did something wrong without meaning too. I felt really sorry for him at times because he kept trying. I am glad he did not give up. I found Nellie to be too perfect to begin with but as the story progresses we see that she is human and that she has her own fears and makes mistakes too. The only thing I didn't believe in is when Nicholas goes to the salon towards the end (it's not what you think) and he gets results. I found that hard to believe.Would recommend to those who love clean romance.

Nicholas has been a womanizer for years, drinking and carousing at the local saloon. While he does believe in God, he hasn't tried to live a clean life, and doesn't have the respect of the townspeople or even his own father. When he meets Nellie, he has a glimpse of a different way of life. After she refuses his advances, he determines to turn over a new leaf to become closer to her. He only needs to convince her that he's sincere.
I really liked both Nellie and Nicholas. Barbara Goss depicts Christian characters well by giving them realistic flaws. Despite Nicholas' past, he's an endearing character and it's easy to see why he and Nellie are attracted to each other. Their friendship is built over time and isn't rushed, it feels sincere.
Where most romance novels would have the main characters keep facts from each other to drum up drama, Nellie and Nicholas always trust each other and discuss their feelings right away. They never let their misunderstandings ferment. It's a good model for a good marriage.
I can't remember listening to another romance novel narrated by a male voice actor, but I really enjoyed it. It seemed to make Nicholas more real, and the narrator was able to give Nellie a feminine voice and feel. His pace and tone were perfect. I think I'm sold on the male romance reader! I was provided a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Yet, to me it seems as if each is told from the heart and this is what I love.
In this particular one we have Nellie and Nicholas falling in love, Nicholas' very jealous and crazy step brother, loving parents and step parents and very supportive friends.
Then we have trust and a bit of a lack of communication between the two main characters and their rebuilding of their trust in this relationship.
Shawn Zuzek has a vey interesting voice and uses it well in his narration of this tale giving us a great combination of story and the telling of it.
I am quite happy to recommend this book and the audio version of it. It was really quite enjoyable.
