About this listen

Pittsburgh, 1900. The mysterious Vanderhorn family hires Nora Bennett as a nurse and companion to her injured, handsome, stepson Alex. Nathan Vanderhorn is drawn to Nora, even though he's betrothed to the socially elite Celeste. Though Nora vies to steer clear of the family problems, a sinister plot pulls her in deeper than she'd ever imagined. Who in this strange household could she trust?

Nathan is forced to run the family steel mill when all he really wants is to become an attorney. Alex wants nothing more than to walk again and run his steel mill. The willful stepmother strives to keep them both from their desires. Both brothers seem to be attracted to Nora. Which brother will she fall in love with?

A sweet audio book!

I enjoyed the audio version of this book! While I didn't think the narrator captured the emotion very well, I did enjoy all the voices he did! I never had to guess who was speaking because he did an outstanding job on variations between characters!
Barb always writes exceptional books and this one competes nicely! While there wasn't a huge Christian conversation, the majority of the focus is on waiting to be intimate till you wedding night!! A very strong Christian theme!! I loved the characters and the diversity of their personalities!!

Temptation by Moonlight was a Wonderful Historical

Where does Temptation by Moonlight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

All of Barbara Goss's audiobooks rank pretty high up on some of the best I've listened to. I've enjoyed ALL her work. She's a fantastic author and one I will continue to listen to.

What other book might you compare Temptation by Moonlight to and why?

In this genre, many are good but Temptation by Moonlight as well as anything written by this author is no doubt going to be good.

What does R William James bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed R. William James performance. It was a slight bit monotone but I think the male voice in this particular story was best.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Well, the title would be a good tag line I suppose.

Any additional comments?

A clean, sweet historical romance!

This audio book drew me in from the very beginning. Nora is a very strong woman and is impossible to not like. She takes her patient, Alex, into hand and motivates him to help himself. Alex is hard to like at first, but overcomes his sulkiness and becomes a very capable hero. Most of the other characters are weak or manipulative, but some do redeem themselves by the end.
This is a clean historical romance (you get what leads up to the door, but then what goes on behind it is private). There are also Christian undertones in the story. Faith plays a part in it, but the book is not preachy. There is some deception, family conflicts, temptation, romance, and abuse in this book. In other words, it has a little of everything!
The narration of the audio book by R. William James was very good. He had different voices that were easily identifiable for the different characters and his voice was easy to listen to. I did think about speeding it up occasionally, but never was compelled enough to actually do it.
I was given this audio book and this is my honest review.

Love endures

This was a sweet story of recovery and love. Alex was in a tragic accident that left him in a wheelchair. He had given up on living until his stepmother hired Nora to help take care of him. She helped with therapy and help him have a desire to live again. The reader does a good job and the author did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this book. It's a clean story that deserves reconication.

Mystery and Romance..

Any additional comments?

This book centers around Nora, the female lead, and Alex, the male lead.

I liked Nora, she was nice and made a good lead role, however, Alex was a bit ruff around the edges at first.

The story line included a bit of action, romance and intrigue.

R William James did well with the narration.

This is exemplary evidence of why Barbara Goss is at the top of her game!

This is the reason why after totally not liking the first book I read by Barbara Goss I kept reading her books, even though the book wasn’t good, the writing was great, and it was her best. Unlike most historical romance stories, in this one, the characters had normal reactions when there was a misunderstanding. It was quickly resolved and didn’t last for months and it didn’t have life-changing effects. This is real drama; this is a totally dysfunctional family with a capital D. If you want to read a great example of historical romance at its best, this book is a must. I really loved it.

A fast-paced enjoyable historical romance.

Where does Temptation by Moonlight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A high rank

What about R William James’s performance did you like?

He made the voices very distinct.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. Terrific finale, and I now have a new favorite book and hero (Alex). It's one of Ms. Goss' most entertaining stories. Mr. James did a really good job of narrating the book, and making each character distinct.

A New Favorite!

Alex Vanderhorn was a successful steel mill owner until an accident left him crippled. Now confined to a single room and a creaky wheelchair, he gives up on any hope of walking again. When Nora Bennett is hired as his nurse and aide, she patiently works to break down his anger and tries to make his life a little better each day. But Nora doesn't expect to be tossed into a world of intrigue and suspense. Every day in the Vanderhorn household reveals new glimpses into a dangerous conspiracy.

I think this is my new favorite Barbara Goss book! I just loved Nora, she is so patient yet powerful. She's a strong woman who pictures her life without a man and is happy with it. Whenever Nora discovers a secret or overhears an alarming conversation, she doesn't keep it to herself and worry over it, she takes it straight to the source. It's refreshing to have a heroine do that. Alex was a sweetheart, a tortured hero who just needed a little push to stop feeling sorry for himself.

I really enjoyed the narration, R William James had a deep pleasant voice that he lightened for the female voices. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
