About this listen

Suspenseful, frightening, and sometimes howlingly funny, a story of invasion and battle, survival and heroism. It is a story of how men remember ... and how they love.

In Derry, Maine, four young boys once stood together and did a brave thing. Something that changed them in ways they hardly understand.

A quarter of a century later, the boys are men who have gone their separate ways. Though they still get together once a year, to go hunting in the north woods of Maine. But this time is different. This time a man comes stumbling into their camp, lost, disoriented and muttering about lights in the sky.

Before long, these old friends will be plunged into the most remarkable events of their lives as they struggle with a terrible creature from another world. Their only chance of survival is locked in their shared past - and in the Dreamcatcher.

Typical Stephen King book in that it builds and builds the suspense. Very enjoyable.

I'm a huge fan of King. About 1/3 of the way through endeavouring to read all of his books. I have enjoyed them all so far. Yet to encounter a "bad" SK book, in my opinion. I've read enough by now to know that what some love about certain books of his, is what lets others down. And, that he has certain "types" of books. Again, I love em all so far, but I do have my favourites, and less favourites. This is one of those that centres around childhood friendships, rich characters, small town life, and of course, crazy circumstances that the seemingly very real people he brings so brilliantly to life, have to deal with. This one has aliens, covert military ops, telepathy, and all that good stuff. Long, but fast paced and really, really good. The audio isn't great. It sounds like it was recorded on an 80s dictaphone, but the volume button sorted that out for me, well enough. I struggled a bit with hearing the narrator deliver all the dialogue from a mentally handicapped character. Not in a woke political way, mind you. It was just kinda... Tough to listen to at times. That said though, I loved this book and highly recommend it. It's like "It" meets "Two Talented Bastids". With some creepy alien vibes thrown in.

A brilliant example of "this kind" of King book

Not the usual King's style. Narration could have been more intriguing. little disappointed with the experience.

Missing the zing!

I don't know why this book gets a bad rap. I find it enjoyable, heartwarming, funny and exciting. It may not be as scary as some of King's others but that isn't all he writes. I would recommend.
