About this listen

A stirring exploration of our 34th president, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

From the time of his childhood in rural Kansas, Dwight D. Eisenhower's vision of himself and his country was one of confidence and hope. His hard-working parents taught him self-reliance and nothing that happened in his long career ever eroded this trait.

During nearly half a century of service to his country and the world, Eisenhower displayed a deep understanding of the nation's problems, aspirations, and fears that prevailed during both war and peace.

He possessed an ability to communicate with the American people in a remarkable way. They saw in him a man of sincerity and instructive good will, and they trusted him implicitly. And Eisenhower demonstrated these qualities to his countrymen again and again in full measure.

Excellent book with some over dramatic at times narration

Fascinating history of Eisenhower and the times in which he lived and served as President. Feedback to Audible: Although the “n” word is an ugly part of our country’s history, no white narrator needs to actually say it. I’d encourage you to make it a policy to use “n word” when reading text as opposed to the actual word. Made part of the experience very distasteful for me.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This book is factual, well referenced, and written by someone who knew and understood Dwight David Eisenhower. Ike will always be a hero to me and I appreciate this honest and decent account of his life. The narration is very good. If I were going to be picky, I would remind the reader, there is no “cow” in Moscow. So grateful to have this book in my library.

Leadership at its finest

Outstanding story of a life of dedicated service to our country. I wish we had more leaders like this today.

What a leader

This was an era that im afraid we will never have again. These leaders sacrificed everything for us to be free and prosperous.

A little hacky

Interesting, but not a deep book, and perhaps not well researched. Written in a 1950's style, what you might have been expected in a biography penned for junior high school students.

Horrible Reading

I am a fan of history but this was terrible. Ike was a much more nuanced character and this AP presentation does not do him justice.
