Publisher's summary

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...." The author's name in Hebrew was Koheleth, but the Greek translators of the Old Testament rendered it as Ecclesiastes. Nothing is known about his life, but without his words, our language would be missing some of the most beautiful passages ever written.

Editorial reviews

The King James version of two of the Bible’s most unique sections, both traditionally attributed to King Solomon, are collected together in Ecclesiastes and The Song of Solomon.

Ecclesiastes is a pessimistic investigation into life and the follies of striving. Many attribute its tone to a Greek philosophical influence. By contrast, The Song of Solomon is a steamy exploration of sexual love. In one section, a woman speaks of her visit from her lover. In another, a man compares his lover’s neck to the Tower of David.

With his deep, rumbling voice, Adrian Cronauer’s tone in his performance is, by turns, despairing and tenderly joyful as he tackles these two distinct books of the Bible.

Great performance!!!

Narrator has a wonderfully soothing voice for listening to while relaxing. Can’t go wrong with the content either.

A Very Good Narration, A Brief Commentary

I listened to this and read from Scripture at the same time. The narration is very faithful to Scripture. The narration is also very well spoken and emotive.

There is a very brief description of the books. However this is a Bible reading and not a Bible study. It is a very nice reading. Thank You….

Great narration/Poor audio

This is an exceptional narration of these classic wisdom books, but the audio is quite poor.

sound quality the only problem

Adrian Cronauer, better known as the real DJ who inspired Robin Williams' character in the movie "Good Morning Vietnam", does an excellent job reading one of the most beautiful books of the Bible. Ecclesiastes is all poetry, and its message about living life to the fullest is ageless.

This version is the only recording of Ecclesiastes alone offered by Audible. (Other recordings of Ecclesiastes are available through Audible's several complete Bibles.) While Cronauer's rich voice does this reading of Ecclesiastes justice, this Audible version is made from an old recording and the sound quality is much muddier than most of Audible's offerings. Only available in Format 2.
