Susanna did a fabulous job with the narration! The way she read it made me feel the suspense more than if I was personally reading the book. Christine did a wonderful job at making me despise the main character, yet also feel for her. This was a solid book that kept me interested so much that it was done in half a day. Lots of emotion. Really liked the multiple POVs. First book by Christine, but not my last! Well done!

Emotions are strong with this one!

The narrator definitely did the book justice. I was hooked from the first chapter. Each of the characters drew me in wanting to know more and know what they were hiding. I was so caught up in listening to the book I was almost late for work because I just had to finish it! I recommend to read this book or listen to the audio. You won’t be disappointed.

Christine Dempsey doesn’t just write suspense—she carves it into your bones. Annie’s journey is dark, emotional, and deeply personal. The slow unraveling of her family’s secrets was masterfully done, and just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist knocked the wind out of me.

The emotional weight of Annie’s choices—revenge vs. forgiveness—was so raw, and the forbidden romance layered even more tension into the already gripping plot. Dempsey’s storytelling is sharp and cinematic, and she made me feel everything.

🎧 As for the audiobook—Susanna Lloyd was phenomenal. Her voice was steady and expressive, capturing Annie’s pain, anger, and vulnerability with chilling clarity. She elevated the entire experience and brought a haunting beauty to every word. I’d listen to anything she narrates.

If you love stories that blend mystery, emotional depth, and a touch of danger—this one is for you.
