About this listen

From thriller and suspense master Brett Battles comes Eden Rising, the fifth book in the continuing Project Eden saga. The Sage Flu pandemic is sweeping across the globe, killing almost everyone in its path. Those who have so far avoided its deathly grip struggle to remain among the living. When the message from the man claiming to be Secretary General of the United Nations plays around the world, hope begins to bloom. But the message isn't from the UN, and its promise of a life-saving vaccine is a lie. Project Eden is working toward its endgame, when it will be in full control of what remains of the human race. In Montana, the small group that has remained at the Bunker, after the rest of the Resistance relocated to a safer location, now has no choice but to leave. Daniel Ash needs more time to recover, but a storm is coming. Instead of heading for the remote Resistance base in Nevada, however, the Resistance's leader has a much different plan. A plan that could change everything. Eden Rising is best read after completing volumes 1-4 (Sick, Exit 9, Pale Horse, and Ashes).

Great series

Can’t wait for next one. Good vs evil and not everyone wins. Narrator is great!

tons of action, can't put this down!

I'm not saying this is great literature, or that some of the writing isn't a tad sophomoric, but boy, oh boy, does it catch you and keep you on the edge of your seat! This is so much fun, so real and conspiracy-theory possible that you have to keep listening. Macleod Andrews is a fantastic narrator, as we all know, so his voices, accents, pacing, and expression just add to the excitement.

World population is down below one billion, and still falling due to the sinister designs of The Eden Project, out to reboot the human race as they see fit. The flu virus is mostly gone now, but they still have more to spray on you or inject if you don't meet their saving guidelines. And if the flu doesn't kill you, they have guns that will.

We now are very attached to the various groups of survivors: of course, the Ashes with Chloe and Matt et al, but also Sanjay and his group in India, Martina and her friends in California, Belinda alone with her journal in her college dorm, and Robert and all the resort folks on Isabella Island off of Costa Rica, as well as the reporter and her camera techie guy trying to get the true news out there. Our friends are threatened, tricked, and even knowingly throwing themselves into danger. We are biting our nails, saying, "no, no, no, get out of there..." But even as The Project seems to be winning, our people are making inroads to the survivors and against the bad guys. There are some important events here, and some great heroics and pathos.

If this book interests you, be sure to read from book one of the series so you can get the whole story and come to know and love the people. You will want them on your side when the trials come!

Awesome

I'm absolutely loving this series and will head straight into the next one. MacLeod Andrews does an amazing job, and Brett Battles has written a spectacular post-apocalyptic series

Great series, suspenseful and nic character arcs

Note: except for my review in book one, will use this as my review for the rest in the series.

I review the first book when I was on book four. I think I gave story 4 stars only because I think books three and four should have been combined in one longer book. Book one really rates a five.

I felt three and four should have been combined because three ended unexpectedly, without a true ending, very much a cliffhanger. If I would have had to wait between three and four, I may not have continued. Luckily, I did not have to wait and I could binge listen.

I give the series five stars for the overall story (thank you for pandemic without zombies) The most excellent reader and the character arcs (growth) from beginning to end. This is why I like characters. They must remain true to their character (steadfast) or they grow, learn and adapt to the conflicts in the story - either way, they stay on mission, achieving small goals that lead to the larger overall goal of the series. In the series most grow and grow well. Most notably, Ash's kids, Sanjay and his friends, Martina and her friends and the group on the island off Costa Rica. I was engrossed in all of their lives and struggles and how they really had to fight to survive.

This was my first time reading Brett Battles and I enjoyed it very much. I can't say enough about MacLeod Andrews except he was so good in this series I rate him number two in my list of readers, right behind Ray Porter.

This was an OUTSTANDING series!!

This was an OUTSTANDING series that made me grab the next book in the series well before I was done with the previous... I did this so I would not miss a beat in the story... It was so compelling, and quite original in its overall plot, I thought... Do yourself a favor, and start with "Sick" the first in the series, and then don't stop until you get to "Down" the seventh and "final?" installment... You will NOT regret it!!

6 billion dead or dying

This series is very well written, and the narrator is truly excellent! Mr. Andrews handles several foreign and regional accents perfectly. The Indians speak great Anglo-Indian English, the Germans, French and Spanish speakers are all accurately presented, and the main characters are recognizable and easy to distinguish from each other.
An enjoyable listen.

Eden Rising

I liked all 4 books so far, the characters are believable, the transition from one group to another was easy to follow.
It was well read and I would tell others that the series was worth the price. Well done again.
