Publisher's summary

Griffin Flaherty wants nothing more than to create a perfect Valentine's Day for his lover, Dr. Percival Endicott Whyborne. Dinner at a fancy restaurant, an evening at the theater, and a romantic interlude at home should do the trick.

But a new client with an urgent case puts Griffin's plans in jeopardy. A magic talisman has been stolen, and if it isn't returned by sundown, disaster will befall not only on the thief but the innocents around him.

Can Whyborne and Griffin track down and return the amulet by nightfall, or will dinner reservations become the least of their worries?

Note: This story takes place between the events of Widdershins and Threshold, and is narrated from Griffin's point of view.

Lovely

Book one of the series is a very delightful beginning.I enjoyed each character very much and fell in love with the two main characters unfortunately the narration of book one sounded like he was in a tunnel or a 10 can this one book 1.5It’s a much improvement of the narration I give it two thumbs up and highly enjoyed looking forward to starting back to

Good creepy and interesting short

I've read the short before so I knew the story before listening to it.
This short story is told from Griffin’s POV, which doesn’t happen again until book 6 (Hoarforst) in the series. All short stories though are told from his POV.
It was a really creepy and interesting short, and we can get in his head and see things Whyborne does not. It also touches on Griffin’s thoughts from Widdershins which I really liked.
Since this story has only a few characters compared to other titles on the series, it wasn’t really much of an issue distinguishing the characters’ voices, especially since I’ve got Griffin’s and Whyborne’s voices identified.
All in all, a good short to add to Whyborne’s and Griffin’s adventures.

Fun scary short story

Whyborne and Griffin are back in this spooky valentines shirt, .. how did Jordan L. Hawk know that’s just what o wanted for Valentine’s Day?

Prepare for a mystery and a little hanky panky.

how did Griffin go from relatively self confident to insecure in the course of a few months ( last book ended just before Christmas this one was on valentine day)

Too Short Story

Any additional comments?

I loved seeing how Griff wanted to have a very special evening setup for Ival but things didn't go quite like planned. I just wish they would see that neither has to prove anything to each other and that they truly love each other. The story was way too short, would have liked a little bit more but overall it was a great short story. Still wish the narrator would differentiate the voices a little bit more

Very nice

Short and engaging. Worthwhile If you are reading the whole series. If not, I'm not sure it's satisfying enough. I like the love affair. I'm rooting for these two crazy kids...we'll see where the next book takes us.

Loved this!

Such, well I want to say sweet interlude, but there wasn't really much sweetness. At least not until the very end. But there you go...

Eidolon is told, and brilliantly so, from Griffin's point of view. He and Whyborne have lived together for a couple of months and now he wants to have that perfect Valentine's day with his beloved. Dinner at a fancy restaurant and a theatre show to follow. Unfortunately fate did not agree, and the couple spend the night recovering a magical talisman that if not returned would unleash unimaginable horrors.

I loved that this story was told by Griffin. And while it was a short one, I still feel that we got to know him so much better, hinting at things from the past, leaving the listener (and reader I'd imagine) wanting to know more. And quickly.

Julian Simmons' narration was great. I loved his voice for Griffin, it really matched his personality perfectly. He has such a pleasant voice that I just need to jump right into the next one for another dose.
