About this listen

The inspiration for the major motion picture Priscilla directed by Sofia Coppola, this New York Times best seller reveals the intimate story of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, told by the woman who lived it.

Decades after his death, millions of fans continue to worship Elvis the legend. But very few knew him as Elvis the man. Here in her own words, Priscilla Presley tells the story of their love, revealing the details of their first meeting, their marriage, their affairs, their divorce, and the unbreakable bond that has remained long after his tragic death.

A tribute to both the man and the legend, Elvis and Me allows Elvis fans the world over an unprecedented look at the true life of the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll and the woman who loved him.

Never an Elvis fan, but…

I was too young to be a Elvis fan and paid little attention to his family as I was much more interested in the Beatles. So, when this book appeared in Audible I took a chance. At first I thought Priscilla sounded weak but her giggles made all the difference in humanizing her experience.
It’s not like anything can change the past, but her relationship with Elvis had many layers. Thinking 1950’s, 1970’s, and moving forward to our me-too era.

With Lisa Marie’s recent death at a young age, I can only imagine how difficult it had to be for Priscilla to raise her in the environment and legacy of her famous father. Perhaps there will be another book although revealing family secrets has got to be difficult. Are we so bad for wanting to know the secrets? Maybe, but for me I have great sympathy for the family.

Beautiful Story

First and foremost, thank you Priscilla for sharing your love story with Elvis. You showed us Elvis's humanity. you showed us that Elvis struggled just like us, only his was harder because he was in the public eye. Thank you for showing us his soft side, his hard sides, and his family side. we will forever remember the king of rock n roll. RIP Elvis Presley.

Listened to this without interruption. Couldn't stop.

Priscilla Presley does a fabulous job sharing stories of her relationship with Elvis. Her reading is terrific, entergetic and at times humorous.

Wow! What a love story

Priscilla did such an honest job of sharing the good and bad of their relationship. It was a balanced perspective and never felt like it exposed too much. I love Elvis even more now!

Captivating as the story progresses

I felt as if I really knew Priscilla as a person as her story unfolded, and cheered her liberation from Elvis. He seemed like a pedophile or something when he took control of her at 14. A bizarre and almost unbelievable story. Lovely narration.

Priscilla was amazing.

Hearing her story, read by her..the way she laughed at certain parts, and other times, I felt her sadness. It was such a wonderful listening experience.

Great book

I liked the book. It was a quick summary of his life with Priscilla. Felt it focused on the love of Priscilla towards Elvis and glossed over his philandering ways with underage women. Although I’m not sure how Priscilla could touch upon that when she was looking through everything through rose colored glasses at a young age. I do recommend the book if you’re an Elvis fan. It was an easy read.

Mahalo nunui

Since visiting Graceland a few days ago, I've engrossed myself in learning more about Elvis, the actor, the musician, the superstar. This was by far the best insight to Elvis as a person. You see, when Elvis died, I was old enough to follow his music & his movies, but too young to understand the hype. This lack of understanding left me open to realize he wasn't just a superstar, he was a son, a husband & a father. And like the rest of us who tries to do our very best to please and take care of everyone around us, we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. It's unfortunate that he left this life so early and before realizing the impact he had in the music world, in the lives of his family & friends and the many people who surrounded him was the true calling on his life.

Thank you, Ms Presley, for sharing your life with him with me. And while his legacy continues to live on, I pray Elvis found the peace and rest he so desperately needed.

Bittersweet Love Story 🥲

I read this book when it came out years ago and cried; listening to the ups and downs, the heartfelt sincerity in Priscilla’s voice brought more tears so many years later, but you also feel the love and good times even more, too. Bittersweet love story 🥲
