Publisher's summary

Bristol Montgomery and Marcus Stearn have been best friends for as long as anyone can remember. Despite what others thing—they’ve only ever been friends.

They share a promise to never to fall for one another.

No heated looks.

No accidental kisses.

And no jealousy over other partners.

The problem? Years ago, they promised each other that if neither of them was married by the time Bristol turned thirty, they’d marry each other.

Even though both have long since decided never to force the other into an arranged marriage, circumstances and sheer stubbornness force them to refuse to back out of their deal.

Now, they’re determined to get married—even as dangerous exes and feelings they deny, block their path.

Embraced in Ink

Narration: I loved the audio performance by Jason Clarke, it was very well done and gave such life to the characters!

Story: Of all of the Montgomery books, I think this one hits in my top favorites. I absolutely love childhood friends to lovers, but throw in this not quite arranged marriage and I am in love. Bristol and Marcus struggle with everyone already thinking that they are a couple when they are only best friends, but as a means to not lose their friendship they decide that if they are both single on Bristol's 30th bday that they will get married, but they must remain friends over the ten years to make sure they aren't marrying a stranger. Instead of bonding them closer this bargain actually strains their friendship as they both try to avoid the possibility of losing each other. I loved the twist with Bristol I honestly didn't see it coming but I am glad in the end it brought them closer together!

Great Read! FreindDreamGoals!

I absolutely LOVE Bristol. She is spunky and her big heart is so easy to fall in love with. You just want to be her friend. I've been waiting for their story since Liam's book.

This book had me glued to my seat. I had to know what happened with them. It had everything you want from friends falling for each other and the love scenes where sweet and steamy.

This will be in my relisten pile for sure!

best friends

I liked that Marcus and Bristol honored a childhood pact, and they were unsure how to do it all. I was disappointed at the split, but hoped for better. The wicked twist was unexpected, and very impactful. Great ending, because love always finds a way!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

love CAR!

I loved Bristol and Marcus. There is just something special about a friends to lovers story. Maybe it's the fact that they have known each other forever and know everything about each other. They have a truely strong friendship that has lasted through all of their life changes. That transition from friends to becoming lovers is never easy or seamless. It really adds to the story. CAR's audiobooks are the best. I love listening to them on my daily walks.

Cute friends to lovers romance!

One of the sweetest, most adorable friends to lovers romances ever. Nothing world-shocking or too surprising in how the relationship develops, but this is still a perfect heartwarming comfort-read. The strength of Bristol and Marcus’s friendship is never in doubt, which was nice, though they both have a little ways to go in terms of self-awareness… because of course there’s more to them than friendship. The potential and longing shimmers in the air, but nothing good ever comes easy, does it? Who’ll be the first to confess to deeper feelings, to reach for more but also risk everything they are? To make matters worse, an unexpected darkness creeps into their lives, one they are unprepared to deal with.

Narration: Jason Clarke did a wonderful job with the narration. He has a warm voice that is very pleasant to listen to and brought a lot of emotion to his performance. I liked his range of voices for all the characters and got completely drawn into the story.

Friends to lovers

I love this story and that Bristol and Marcus are willing to do anything for each other. This includes a promise to marry each other if in 10 years neither one is married. Things get a little weird for them when they try to figure out how to stay friends while dating as an engaged couple.

Surprising Twist

I never expected to actually cry during this book. But I had tears rolling down my face. And what a twist to this story. Even though Bristol was the victim, she was a fighter and she was not going down without a fight. I guess growing up with 3 was a good thing.

I like that the Montgomery's gave them space. I think they knew something wasn't right, but they figured they would figure it out without them meddling. Except for Aaron. I can't wait for him to get his book. I hope Bristol gives him grief after the way he treated Marcus. I was surprised at how calm Liam was during his conversation with Marcus at the hospital. But I thought what he said was perfect when he gave the ring to Marcus: Figure out what it means.

This has been my favorite book so far and I thought it would be hard to top Ethan, Holland and Lincoln's book. So Ms Ryan, you have outdone yourself.

Jason Clarke is WOW. Just WOW. He manages to show anger, frustration, love, friendship, jealousy, lust and love. And the British accent wasn't bad either.
