About this listen

Sparks fly between a former cop-turned-bartender and his new innkeeper in the first installment of a Montgomery Ink spin-off series from NYT best-selling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.

Dare Collins is a man who knows his whiskey and women-or at least that's what he tells himself. When his family decides to convert the apartments over his bar and tap house into an inn and hires on a new innkeeper, he's more than reluctant. Especially when he meets the new hire. But he'll soon find that he has no choice but to work with this city girl and accept her new ideas and the burning attraction between them.

Kenzie Owens left her old life and an abusive relationship behind her-or so she thought. She figures she'll be safe in Whiskey, Pennsylvania but after one look at her new boss, Dare Collins, she might still be in danger, or at least her heart. And when her past catches up with her despite her attempts to avoid it, it's more than her heart on the line. This time, it might mean her life.

Whiskey Secrets

This is book 1 of the Whiskey & Lies series. A spin off of Montgomery Ink. We met the Collins brothers when they visited their sister Tabby in Colorado now we get to know the whole Collins Family. Dare is a retired cop, sfter losing his partner he had to leave that life behind, for himself, his son, and his family. Now he owns and runs the bar below his parents inn and is struggling to adjust to a normal life until he meets Kenzie. Kenzie is the new inn keeper and she makes quite a first impression with Dare. Now they are both facing around each other to make thins work, while she hides her past from the Collins family.

Gregory Salinas did such a great job with this book. Sometimes with other books I have a problem distinguishing which character is supposed to be talking when there is only one narrorator but that is never a problem with Gregory’s narroration. His voice fits the mood of the story and characters perfectly.

Secrets, Secrets, Secrets

I really liked the characters Dare has that mysterious vibe to him, but also this huge protective streak you just want to know all his deep dark secrets.

I liked Kenzie and felt like she was just the woman to get to know all of Dare’s secrets only she has a few secrets of her own.
I very much enjoyed the fact that it was a bit of give and take and that the attraction was on both sides and no it wasn’t a love at first sight thank goodness for that.

I did feel like some of the story was a little predictable and that isn’t a bad thing just wished there had been a twist I hadn’t already read before.

I think the kids stole the show! I really like when an author brings kids into a book it makes it feel more authentic.

A character I want to know more about Locke!! Totally want to know more about this fellow.

I liked the narration it didn’t blow me away, there are narrators that make you feel a part of the story with their tones and inflection and there are narrators who just tell the story. Gregory is a tell the story in and out kind of deal to me. But that’s ok still enjoyable to listen to.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

This was a nice, easy, enjoyable listen...

Whiskey Secrets by Carrie Ann Ryan was a nice and easy listen. Were there a few predictable parts? Yes, but the story was unique and well written and made for an enjoyable afternoon listen. Dare and his family own a bar/inn and Kenzie is hired to run the inn part of the business, as Dare's parents are looking to retire. Kenzie and Dare are drawn to each other but both harbor their own secrets that could pull them apart or put them in danger. Neither one of them really wants to let anyone in after the things that they've been through either. This is the story of them falling in love and the obstacles that they have to overcome to see if they have a real possibility of a future together. Again, like I said, this was a nice and easy listen and if the summary sounds enjoyable, then I'd recommend this book for you.

Gregory Salinas narrated Whiskey Secrets really well. The main characters, Dare and Kenzie, were both performed really well, as were the other characters. Each person had their own distinct voice and the perfect amount of emotion to bring them to life. Mr. Salinas even did a great job with the female voices, which sometimes male narrators have a difficult time with. I'd listen to more of his narrations in the future without hesitation. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

The bartender and the city girl

This is a new series based on the Collins brothers in Whiskey, PA...brothers to Tabby from the Montgomery Ink series. Dare is a former cop who is now running the family’s bar. He’s not too happy when his parents hire a manager for the family’s inn without telling him. Kenzie is a city girl who needs a change of scenery from her former life and abusive ex husband. She has to prove to Dare that she’s capable of running the inn and maybe open to a relationship. When Kenzie’s past comes calling, will Dare risk his life to keep her safe? Quick story about some hot, lovable guys. Nice HEA.

Ex's are a real killjoy

Emotional, angsty, and dangerous at times. Kenzie's ex just couldn't take a hint that divorce means done and finished forever! He kept turning up like a bad penny ( psycho penny)!!!
Dare's ex was such a biotch until the very end, when she gets a clue! Both ex's kept me on tenterhooks with their thoughts and demands on their exs. I was happy, but emotionally drained by the end of this story. Great job. The narrator's voice and expressions brought it all to life. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.

Growly and brooding, how could a girl go wrong?

As the first book in this series, I wasn't sure what to expect and I was blown away. Dare is growly and protective of those he loves, but he has issues of not feeling good enough. Kenzie is a strong woman who knows she's good at what she does, but she's uncomfortable getting into a relationship after her divorce. Both are in need of some TLC.

Let us not forget the rest of the Collins family. Fox is just a smart a$$ and Lach is brooding. You can definitely tell Dare and Lach are related. But Fox is the oddball and keeps them balanced. Plus their sister Tabby knows how to keep them in line.

There is lots of action, literally and figuratively, in this book. I enjoyed the banter of the siblings and how they all came together when there was a threat. They are family oriented, but yet independent. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.

As for the narration, I listened to it on single speed, but there were times it felt like it was playing much faster. I had to keep checking to make sure I didn't change the speed. Otherwise the narration was great. Each character was its own. I highly recommend this book and now I'm going to go back and read more of the Montgomery Ink series.

Whiskey Secrets

Dare runs his family’s bar that is attached to the inn his parents run. When they hire Kenzie to help them, Dare isn’t happy. Dare and Kenzie both have issues they are trying to work through, but they were amazing together. I also love that his brothers laid into him when he was being dumb. I love Carrie Ann Ryan’s books, and working my way through her backlog has been super fun.
