About this listen
"Whenever we attribute the cause of our happiness or unhappiness, satisfaction or dissatisfaction, to something outside ourselves", reflects Fleet Maull, "we give away our power. We incarcerate ourselves in 'the victim mind-set.'"
The cure? Radical responsibility - owning our circumstances and our choices for true self-empowerment.
In this groundbreaking audio program, the former prisoner - today a renowned meditation teacher and leadership consultant - tells us how to free ourselves from the beliefs that trap us.
Through self-reflection, meditations, emotional intelligence training, and many other practices developed in the seemingly "freedomless" situations of prison and hospice, this extraordinary teacher guides us step by step to transform fear-based habits into those of courage and success in our own lives.
In his worldwide trainings and retreats, Fleet Maull has helped tens of thousands, including organizational leaders, educators, students, parents, inmates, prison officers, the terminally ill, caretakers, and those from many other walks of life.
If you're seeking to become more successful and fulfilled in your work, relationships, and greater life purpose, Embracing Radical Responsibility will give you the tools and expert guidance to move beyond the inner walls of your beliefs and realize your full potential.
Highlights:
- Understanding the fear-based patterns embedded in your neurobiology by childhood experiences and cultural conditioning
- Simple and powerful exercises to perceive and break free of your learned limitations and access limitless possibility
- Learning simple yet powerful interoceptive awareness tools for mindful self-leadership - getting in a leadership position with yourself
- Accessing your deeper awareness - the unconditioned mind independent of your conditioned beliefs
- Cultivating the strength, resilience, and insight needed to meet moment-to-moment challenges and suffering with compassion, wisdom, and dignity
- Embracing mindfulness and emotional intelligence training - understanding how they're complementary and essential for life success, happiness, and more

Story
In the words of the Buddha, the four foundations of mindfulness (the four satipatthanas) are "the direct path for the purification of beings, for the surmounting of sorrow and lamentation, for the disappearance of dukkha (suffering) and discontent, for acquiring the true method, for the realization of Nibbana." Within the quintessential discourse called the Satipatthana Sutta, we find the Buddha's seminal teachings about the practice of meditation.

Story
What is the greatest obstacle to fulfillment, success, and happiness? "It's the belief that your current situation, whatever it is, has the power to determine your future," teaches Fleet Maull. Before he was a revered meditation teacher, Maull served 14 years in prison for drug trafficking. During that time, he embarked on a path of transformation and service that has helped tens of thousands - from inmates to hospice patients to top-level business leaders. With Radical Responsibility, he invites us to experience for ourselves the life-changing journey from victim to cocreator.

Has been very helpful
Loved the seminar style delivery and was really grateful for him encouraging me to stop and do the writing or practice. I have the book version too, but I found this one easier to engage with.

The content is okay but...
As with many sounds true productions this isn't a reading of a book, it's a performance. It really becomes clear when he rants about stopping the book to do the exercises. I don't need to hear that. I would prefer an actual audiobook presentation of the information with less ad-libbing.
The early parts are the same mindfulness stuff that has been popular for years. I really wanted to hear more about this philosophy of responsibility, but there is so much to get through. He does offer some interesting exercises later in the book.

It's a total mess
To say the least, I was very disappointed. I do not want to insult the author.
