Publisher's summary

My mom fell in love with a monster. I know he’s dangerous. And I know my mom never wanted him in my life. I don’t want him in mine, either. But I’m being forced to live with him.

I’m stuck in his haunting apartment in a world where I don’t belong. A world full of beautiful people with ugly souls. A world filled with secrets.

And the one person I thought I could rely on was Matt. But he says my new family is a disease. Does that make me toxic, too? Is that why Matt wants to keep me his dirty little secret?

I should have known that all the secrets would come crashing down soon. I just never expected more to break than Matthew freaking Caldwell breaking my heart.

This second book in the series includes a bonus short story called "Matthew Caldwell, The Untouchable".

Why so many books

Although I did enjoy this book there are to many in the series I wish I had known going into this series. And the fact that this book basically intertwines with 20 other books is a big disappointment I don’t understand the hype.

Better than the first, and that’s saying a lot because the first was fantastic!

Once again, Ivy has blown me away with an amazing book! I felt like Brooklyn battling her feelings for three different guys. They are all swoon worthy and incredible in their own ways. I even had a hard time choosing one over the other.

Isabella is just plain evil. Every time I think she cannot get any more malevolent, she does something that shocks you. The ending..... Oh.My.Goodness! She’s a psychopath.

I am still on the fence about Mr. Pruitt. I do think that the relationship that he’s trying to have with Brooklyn is very sweet, and I do hope it’s real. There’s a mystery in the story that wasn’t solved in this book, but hopefully will get the answers in the last book.

I have read every one of Ivy’s books, and I think she just gets better and better. This is by far my favorite book that has been written by her. #teamnewguy

Still addicted!

Okay, this series has been awesome. Sometimes Brooklyn annoys me, but I can't put the story down. On to the next!

Not as good as the first

This book is interesting. I love how Brooklyn’s dad is towards her, but I hate how she bounces between boys and cannot make up her mind. Still it is worth reading.

It was a struggle

Although I listened to the entire book, I tried to like it because I did like the first book. I had a really hard time with Brooklyn and the whole whiny, brooding, what's wrong with me thing she kept doing, made this one a forced listen (because I usually finish my books). Isabella her step-sister is a bully, however, I was rooting for Miller (her body guard). Not sure if I can finish the series, I may try at some point but not right now. There is a curiosity to finish at some point with the way it ended (always a cliff hanger).

Too much evilness for high school

I tried to follow this series as the first book was really promising but as i finish this 2nd book i question myself if i wanted to listen to the last book. I cant believe 16-18 years olds can be this evil and cruel. Brooklyn is likeable on the first book, i kept waiting for her character to bloom but it seems like she is the most confused and troubled gurl ive read so far. You would think with all sheve been through she will at least have confidence and some level of smartness. She kept saying opposite of whats on her mind, she kept allowing people to use her and take advantage of her and she cannot make up her mind moving along from 3 different guys and being unsure who she really likes. Now i am sk confuse if she is leading them all on or shes just not really in love. I cant even establish if her and matt are meant to be or if this is their story. Too much complications that i actually lost my interest on the story. Maybe this is just not what i expected fkr a high school story.

Okay so here’s the deal...

Our main character jumps from one ridiculous conclusion to the next. It’s hard not to roll your eyes at the stupid things our MC thinks.
The drama is good and believable to a point but much of it could have been avoided by the characters actually talking to each other.
It was the same trouble I had when reading book one.
Her relationship with Matt is hot one moment and then our MC believes something and breaks up with him again the next. She’s a very immature teenager and I have a hard time liking her. The secondary characters make up for that.

It’s worth the read. Same with the first book. But get ready to roll your eyes... a lot.

PS *I don’t know what weed Ivy has smoked but the effects she described in the book aren’t exactly correct.
