I also appreciated the book's emphasis on cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, after all, "play" could look a lot different depending on your cultural background. This book goes beyond the generic to provide tailored activities and ideas that reflect the diversity of our society; I like how every child matters to the author.
Another thing that I thought was fantastic is the author's use of case studies and real-world examples--these really help bring the topic home, so to speak. And, if you're a super busy person like me, this book addresses that too by providing tips specifically catered to busy parents who may find it easier to stick their child behind a screen, but really need to be incorporating play into their daily routine!
This is a great resource!

What really stood out to me was how it balances fun with meaningful goals. The activities aren’t just engaging for the child, they’re carefully designed to build confidence, improve emotional intelligence, and promote positive behaviours. I also appreciated the emphasis on cultural inclusivity and sensitivity, which is often overlooked in parenting or therapeutic guides.
The book breaks down the core principles of effective play therapy in a way that’s easy to understand and apply. It also gives guidance on how to manage screen time, encourage more physical and creative play, and turn everyday moments into opportunities for growth. You don’t need a psychology degree to make sense of it, all you need is 30 minutes and a genuine interest in helping kids thrive.
Highly recommend this to parents, teachers, or anyone who works with children. It’s a short read with long-lasting value.
