About this listen

Clarity's home is her spaceship. Living on the move. Planet to planet.

When money trouble forces Clarity and her traveling companion, Irohann, to take on passengers, Irohann worries his secret identity will be revealed. He's a canine alien on the run from an empire of sentient plants, and their queen has a personal vendetta against him.

But Clarity believes his fears are unfounded and the Doraspians gave up on him long ago.

Heartsick at the idea of losing their ship, Clarity accepts an offer that's clearly too good to be true, and they find themselves swept up in the crazy schemes of a rogue AI in a stolen robot body and her haphazardly assembled team of disparate aliens, including a hive-minded swarm, a giant insect, a rabbit-like alien, and a living spaceship who loves bunnies. Together, the team must break into an abandoned science station, mangled by an entangled particle trying to destroy the universe.

When disaster strikes, Clarity steps up to pull the team together, but it may come at the cost of the very home and friendship she was trying to save.

Don't miss this space opera full of unique and unforgettable aliens, and a universe full of adventure. Perfect for fans of classic space opera, from Star Wars to Firefly.

A highly creative and unique start to what I hope to be a long-running series.

Good Space Story

I enjoyed this story, but in the middle of book author lost steam and just kind of let plot slide then picked back up to finish the story very well.
The Main character Clarity is a unique person with love of dolls, Dedicated to her shipmates, always tries to put all the ones she cares about first. I Love Cassidy and her bunny obsession!!

It's a different kinda story.

I liked the book. I am not crazy about the tone of voice the narrator uses. The sample is an accurate representation of her voice. It's just a personal thing with me. It did not take away from the story, just made me change eq settings so I could hear her better. It's a weird little story, so I got the second book too. I'll see how it goes from there. My opinion about the narrator reflects auditory issues I have from my time in the military. If you don't have those issues, I think you will find her voice very relaxing and easy to listen to.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable title.

I go through a lot of Sci-Fi. Most of it is military stuff with gruff characters that border on being hero’s that pull off the victory in spite of long odds.

This book has plenty of Sci-Fi goodness, long odds, but little in the way of hard men. Instead it has ...bunnies. It’s actually a really nice story with plenty of cute thrown into the mix. I don’t want to give up any spoilers, so that is about as far as I am going to go.

It’s a fun story and left me in a good mood. I’ll most likely check out the next in the series.

Unique Characters in a Unique Universe

Clarity and Irohann live on ship. They travel the galaxy and enjoy each other’s company. After some time together, they run into money troubles. Irohann wants to sell the ship, but Clarity loves her ship and tries to find a quick way to make money.

Of course, as soon as she puts out that she is open for passengers, she gets a request that is too good to be true. She is to purchase a specific robot, sounds easy right? Nope, the robot has a piece of rebel AI. And has a plan of her own. This leads them across the galaxy meeting unique individuals like a ‘man’ made up of all sorts of insects and a rabbit-man pilot. It is a great unique take on a space opera.

The narrator did a great job. I was not familiar with her work before this book, but I enjoyed it.

Grab this if you love Space Opera, AI, or Aliens!

I hadn't run into either author or narrator before, but I know that Aethon (a small, start-up-publisher run by two Scifi writers) keeps coming up with winning books and audios.
First I fell in love with the narrator, Sierra Kline! Then I downloaded the book! Even though I'd only listened for the briefest snippet, Sierra Kline didn't let me down! Her narration performance was sublime.
Next I fell in love with the story's protagonist, Clarity. It was simply a matter of meeting her first mate Irohann, to fall in love a third time! Irohann's an alien who looks like a canid complete with red fur an a waggling tail (OMG, tell me that's not a Clifford Easter-egg).
In order to keep her home (which happens  to be her precious starship) "afloat", Clarity has to find paying passengers quick, what she ends up with is a motley group. Starting with an AI, and several other races of aliens, no one the same and each with attributes which will help the AI perform a rescue mission... and along the way we end up finding a Starwhal (think Narwhal... then think Star Trek... the Space Whale)! What's not to love?!?
I know that Mary E Lowd has to be a Space Opera/Scifi geek! My guess, she's read Startide Rising, David Brin's magnificent work. And maybe even Vonda McIntyre's underrated book Superluminal. It's possible the she's also read Jen Foehner Wells Fluency series too. Well enough speculation. What I do know is... If you love a fun space adventure, weird aliens, animals, or any of the authors I mentioned, you're sure to enjoy this!
This is a great example of character driven plot! And yes these assorted Aliens have to work out their differences with each other before they can even attempt the rescue! Whoo Hoo!

I’m ended up here for the cover...

I stayed for the story. I loved this tale of Starwhals and spaceships. The cover does a great job telling you what to expect but its oh so much more.

Unique💙

Entanglement Bound is a cool tale neatly written with a cast of unique creatures, characters & environments.

Sierra Kline did very well with narration.

It will be interesting to see what's next.

I was given this book at my request and am voluntary leaving a review.

An interesting concept that fell a little short.

I would like to start by saying that Mary has managed to become a published author, which makes her a hundred times better than me.

The voice performance was very good, kudos to Sierra. I think if she had not been narrating this book I would have not been able to finish it.

My major issue with this audiobook, was the overly whiny nature of the main character. It made finishing this book very difficult. Rather than laughing out loud, I had found myself actually groaning or sign, and occasionally just uttering get on with it. So much time was spent on describing feelings or fears, being overly descriptive at times when I don't believe a character would have done more than been able to react. So much time was lost on rehashing the same fears.

I wish the author all the best, and hope that other works are better, so if this is a series I certainly will not be continuing it.
