About this listen

The ships came at dawn. Dean’s wife is dead. Her last words: When the ships come...wear the necklace. Then the ships arrived.

Cities all around the world reported strange alien vessels descending. Some saw them as the heralds of a new age; others fired everything they had at them. All were taken as the beams lashed down and drew them into the sky.

Dean was left behind, seemingly the last man on Earth. A trail of clues left by his dead wife guides Dean on a perilous journey across America and beyond to learn the truth behind the mysterious ships and save humanity from its doom.

But not everything is as it seems.

I'm hooked.

I've been getting into post-apocalyptic stories more and more the past year. I think I will enjoy this series. On to the next book!

Hard to Suspend Belief

Started out okay but just too many logical and factual inconsistencies to allow me to enjoy the story. Hated the ending. Not going to continue the series

I liked it

I don’t really read books like this but it was an interesting read opening me to a different genre and because of this I will look further into other books like this

decent but predictable

overall a decent listen but felt like a collection of action cliche'. hopefully the series will mature into more character development.

Good story with Excellent Narration

The story was good, but a little rough. The narration was spot on. It was a quick listen, and I enjoyed it enough that I will likely continue the series.

Pretty danged good

Not shiny polished, but quite well done. The character development, dialog and action made up for the occasional (and minor) weak points in the plot.
Luke Daniels did a great job. It was easy to tell which character was speaking (a pet peeve).
It started to get a bit fantastical toward the end, but it seemed to be a teaser for future books in the series. I'll find out when I get them.

very well written sci-fi adventure

A very good story whose only flaw was being too short. This was one of those books that I didn't want to put down and listened to way too late into the night. Luke Daniels did a great job reading it and brought some great life to the characters.

I am anxious for the next book in the series.

Great read and awesome narration..

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was about an invasion and the few people left on earth to save the billions of people taken by the aliens and put in containers and sent toward the sun so they could have earth.

The characters were great; Dean and Mary, Magnus and Natalia, and Mae near the end of the story, and Carey, Dean’s neighbor’s dog. A neighbor who didn’t make, along with billions of others.

Of course, this book left it open for the next book because Dean told everyone that “it wasn’t over, yet.”

There was no swearing to speak of and no sex so this book was definitely G-rated. And, unfortunately, G-rated books are really not my thing. In real life I’d expect a lot more swearing than “s**t” used two times when people are getting into all kinds of scary-crazy-dangerous-deadly situations. A good read but I won’t be moving on to the next book. This was written for YA and teens.

As to the narration: YAY! Luke Daniels! He’s simply wonderful. With voices and emotions.
