Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Isabella Starling writing as Fawn Bailey, comes a sexy, dark mafia trilogy.

Ophelia Sokolov. Innocent, beautiful, and spoiled.

The daughter of a Russian mafia kingpin, I get everything I want with the click of my fingers. Except for him.

I've been in love with Ryker for years, but I'm supposed to marry his brother, Max. Until that one fateful day, celebrating my 18th birthday when everything changes.

There's evil lurking in the shadows, just like papa said. And this time, I won't be able to hide....

Interesting Intro

An interesting intro to this series, and I was very pulled into it. But reading the blurbs and reviews of the future books, and who she'll end up with, it has me not wanting to move on.

Not sure where this story is headed...

First of all, this book is only for one hour. So what can happen? Apparently a lot!!

She is promised to wed at age 5. Yup! Age 5. With the wedding to take place in adulthood. So, now you already know this story is going to cross so many lines of morality.

Yes, a lot does happen... even in an hour. This is a prelude... to what... I have no clue myself. So, off to the next book. Hope it gets better. I'm intrigued. You got me!

The narration is great to listen to.

Just wondering... why isn't this series just one big long book? Hmmmm

Wow!

What a prequel. Evil comes to Ophelia's 18th birthday celebration. I cannot believe what happened at the end of the story. I am looking forward to the next book since this one ends on quite a cliffhanger. Kain is one sick SOB. Sara Shay did a great job with the narration. I did not care for Brett Galliford's narration. I will try to get used to it in the next book. I cannot wait to find out what happens to Ophelia.

WARNING.. WARNING.. WARNING.. WARNING..

I did push through and listen to all parts of the Gilded Cage trilogy and I’ve come back now to warn you these books are the darkest most shockingly disturbing thing I’ve ever listened to.. and believe me I’ve listened to quite a few!! Three villainous twisted men.. one captured eighteen yr old girl who spends five years being ‘trained’ to do her master’s bidding.. Mafia families at war.. blood, torture, hurt me bdsm sex sex sex, punish me sub/Dom sex sex sex, angst, drama, plot twists.. and all kinds of f’kedupery. It’s totally unpredictable, IMO unprecedented and even unpleasant.. and yet I still listened because I wanted to know who she would choose, I needed to know that vengeance had been served and I longed for a HEA.

Fawn Bailey (aka Isabella Starling) looks like a sweet young woman on her author’s page.. but girl you’re hiding a twisted twisted mind under that long hair and it says you love pushing boundaries.. well with this you didn’t just push my boundaries you nuked the hell out of them! But praise to you too because you wrote a story about a weak heroine who I was convinced was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, three dislikeable anti-heroes and various other villains and wrapped them together in a multiple POV plot that was filled with pathetic pawns and manipulative players.. AND STILL I BLOODY LISTENED.

Worth a credit? They could’ve all been condensed into one meaty book.. there should’ve be a BOLD RED content warning sign.. and maybe then it would’ve been worth a credit for ‘dark’ fans.. but I paid cash. I also had to stop the listen frequently because it got too much, I often skipped past the disturbing sex scenes and for quite a long time I really didn’t care which sick f’k got to keep the toy. So.. beyond here there be dragons.. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!
