About this listen

Ever Shade - A dark twist on faeries.

For Shade, a chance meeting with a powerful Teleen faery warrior who wields electrical currents and blue fires along his skin, has her joining him on a treacherous mission for the good Seelie Faerie Court across the land of Faerie. Magic and malice abound and nothing is what it really seems to be. The evil Unseelie Queen and her treacherous allies are around every corner as Shade makes her way across the breathtaking landscapes of the world of Faerie, which exists alongside the mundane human world. Shade discovers her own uncharted magic and meets some of the most powerful warriors in Faerie while battling evil dryads, conniving Teleen guards and challenges on her life with every step in a world where nothing can be taken for granted.

Not for me

I'm giving this book three stars because it was a mistake for me to buy it. I thought the characters and plot would be more mature.

Great story

Love the narrators voice. Soothing.
But I don't like the way she does the main characters voice. She makes Shade sound like a complete nerd. Idk why she does that with all the English accents. Her Irish and other accents are wonderful.

I love this series so much!

Wow, this is my first time listening to this series, but since I loved reading the series when it first came out I thought I would love listening to the stories being read to me and I think I love it more now that I am hearing how it would sound from the characters point of view and I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series.

I am loving this series!!!!

I love the fae & this series has been full of excitement & wonder so far. I can't wait to get my hands on the other books to see what else is to come!
BTW I really enjoyed this narrator too! She did a fabulous job adding spunk & spite to these characters exactly when needed! I look forward to listening to her again soon.

Liked It

The heroine started out as a fairly typical teenage girl-easily overwhelmed and easily irritated. I had to keep reminding myself that she was a teenager, because otherwise, her whininess would get extraordinarily annoying. I liked the story quite a bit, but I don't know if I would consider it to be dark. Grimms fairytale are often just as dark. The narrator did an OK job, though I think she could be excellent if narrating a different book... Perhaps one with European characters. It's impossible to buy that she was born in the United States.

Overall, it was a decent, interesting story with ok narration (or excellent narration if the story took place elsewhere!).

I received a free copy of this audio book from the author, narrator or publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Great YA dark faerie story

I loved the magic and world created in this YA dark faerie tale. High school student, Shade, thought she was human until she met Jack, a Teleen faerie who pulls her into a world she never knew existed. She discovers things about herself that she had no inclination of, and is then persuaded to join a dangerous mission to try to save the Seelie faerie court from been overtaken by the evil Unseelie queen. I enjoyed the development of Shade in this story from an introverted high school student to a physically stronger, more determined person who is becoming aware of her true nature. The slow build up of friendships with hints of potential romance and sexual attraction throughout the book was great and I will look forward to seeing what develops in the next book. I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life and I loved the various accents she used for the characters, it definitely added to my enjoyment of the audiobook. This is a fast paced, well written adventure story with great twists, imagery and descriptions. The characters capture your imagination and you look forward to learning more about them all in future books.

Excellent world building!

Unique and intriguing. Multilayered characters that will leave you guessing…friend or foe?

A surprising and confusing new world for Shade who never really understood why,or to what extent, she was different. A scary adventure for her that she never asked for…or could ever dream up.

Very visual and fantastic. Looking forward to going deeper into this world and learning more of all these characters.

The narrator is pretty perfect for the series and brings the story to life beautifully.

Some awesome world building

What an amazing ride. Nonstop action all the way. Shade is getting closer to learning about her father as she comes into her powers and helps save the people of Teleen. There were several guys I was thinking would make a good match for her. Can't wait to see who she is with. and the one guy who is cursed to look like a tree, I'm curious about seeing him again.

The narrator was wonderful. I couldn't ask for better. love the accents and different voices. they really come alive. This is some awesome world building.
