About this listen

Welcome to Chipping Cheddar, where supernaturals are hidden in plain sight.

When a local artist disappears under mysterious circumstances, Chief Fox enlists my help to solve the case. An inspection of the artist's most recent paintings reveals there's magic at work, and I have to get in touch with my inner Rembrandt in order to access it. Meanwhile, life takes a sharp turn for frenemy Sassy Persimmons, and I find myself in the unexpected position of offering her comfort while offering my evil family a piece of my mind.

Can I locate the missing artist before it's too late, or will we both be out of the picture - permanently?

Every Picture Tells a Fury is the eighth book in the Federal Bureau of Magic cozy mystery series.

So good

I love Eden. I love Sawyer. I get a kick out of her family. I listened to this too quickly!!

Bring back old narrator please!

The story was great. Eden has grown throughout the books and it is shows even more during this book.

My only issue was the narrator!!! I miss the "old" one!

Solid Story Different Narrator

So just want to address that it felt so odd to change narrators on book 8 of a series. I had come to really enjoy Elizabeth Saydah who narrated the last 7 books in this series so I was quite surprised that Jessica Hazard took over this volume. It is difficult as Jessica is not a terrible narrator but I did not like the changes she made to the different character voices I have come to enjoy from the last 7 stories. Jessica also struggled at times to clearly define different voices so occasionally I would get confused who was speaking. This took me out of the actually story because I would have reactions to characters as they were introduced in the story and they sound so different. This is a personal quibble but I wanted to name it in case others find consistent narration important. I think if the series had begun with Jessica this wouldn't be an issue, or if you are someone who did not care for Elizabeth's narration this might be a refreshing change, but for me it broke up the flow of the story. The story itself in interesting and engaging with new magical experiences occurring and new family arriving. I really enjoy how Annabel has been allowing Eden to be more collaborative with the community and exploring different kinds of magic. I did find the romantic dialogue between Eden and Sawyer to be a bit cringey but it is interesting to watch them navigate trying to keep things private. The mystery in the story is interesting though there seems to be a consistent theme that the audience sees the clues faster than Eden. I am excited to continue this series as I enjoy the story and the cast of characters but it will take me a bit to get used to the new character voices. For fans of the series expect the same style, pacing, reveal, and resolution you have come to expect with a few fun new characters added to the cast.

New narrator, not a fan.

Not a fan of this narrator, but I really like the story. Will be listening to the next in line.

Very disappointed with the narration

I couldn't finish the book. The writing seemed very choppy, but I'm not sure if it was due to the narrator or the author. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series up to this point.

I give up

Changing the narrator this far into the selectors was the breaking point.
I gave it a shot but there were so many changes the new narrator made it changed the story.
This is such an interesting concept and I adore ACs other work but the main character is this series is just so unlikable.
Very little character development over the entire series, she’s self righteous, arrogant and egotistical. Not to mention plain rude, sets double standards and is overall a jerk.

This series feels like it was written by an underage student.
It had so much potential and I kept hoping it would improve.

I gave up on this book after 15 minutes with the new narrator.

I didn't like the new reader.

The new reader tried to make characters appear different, but feel short. Everyone sounded the same. It was a let down.
