The in-crowd wears Gucci, but one girl wears her heart on her sleeve. When a chance meeting propels Bette into a new role as a party planner, she can hardly believe her luck. A job that pays you to party! Running with the cool Manhattan pack, gaining VIP access to the city's hottest spots, and meeting "everyone worth knowing" is a million miles away from the number-crunching and paper-pushing of her old banking job. Overnight, the greatest city in the world has become her sexy, late-night playground. But then everything starts to fall apart. Lauren Weisberger's first novel, The Devil Wears Prada, was on the New York Times best seller list for six months.©2006 Lauren Weisberger (P)2014 Audible, Inc. So this isn't the most intellectual work of fiction, but it is a fun listen. The setting is vibrant and amusingly shallow. If you like a 'sex in the city' / harlequin style read then you'll enjoy this book. It could have been edited more and at times leaves built up events too quickly. However, overall I enjoyed this book and didn't want it to end.

A fun listen

I was hesitant to buy this book after reading some negative reviews on Amazon, but I gave it a go and I have to say it was kind of fun and hard to stop listening to. I think this one is even better than The Devil Wears Prada and recommend this book if you want something light to read.

Fun!

I found this book quite disappointing. From the the description it seemed as if it would be quite entertaining. Unfortunately, it wasn't one of those books you can't put down and I had trouble paying attention while listening.
