From Rob Bell, the New York Times best-selling author of Love Wins

This audiobook is an invitation to see your life in a new way. Because we each have a story we're telling - about who and where we come from, what we've been through, and what it all means - or doesn't mean. These stories we tell can easily feel disjointed and fragmented, like an endless series of events are happening to us without any particular coherence or point. Just, you know, life. But for thousands of years there's been another way of understanding this experience we're all having here, one that goes directly to the heart of those age-old questions: Who are we? And what are we doing here? And what does it all mean?

In this compelling and surprisingly subversive memoir, Rob shows us this ancient wisdom, taking us through his history and the history of the universe to show us something about our histories - how all of it matters, how everything we've been through forms a connected whole, and how it's all been headed somewhere the whole time.

From the farthest reaches of the universe to the smallest cells in our bodies, Rob invites us to see that there's something more going on here, something bringing us together and guiding us into greater and greater wonder and awe at our own existence, showing us how this world we call home is way more dynamic and mysterious and meaningful than we ever realized.

If you've every found yourself thinking, "There's got to be me more than this", this audiobook is for you. Can your life get more fascinating, more meaningful, filled with more and more possibilities surprising you year after year after year? This book says yes. Because everything is spiritual.

Everything it’s supposed to be

Few authors do what Rob does. I feel included, affirmed, energized by his ideas and presentation skills. Hats off to your many mentors, Rob. You are a fine human being and thanks for listening to the voice inside you.

WOW

This is mind boggling, challenging and perhaps even life changing! I feel that Pastor Rob Bell, (yes, I still will give him credit for that previous role) just opens up an incredible window to a simplistic and mystical arena of how we should think of and live our Christianity out. Wow…just WOW! Thank you VERY much Pastor Rob Bell for sharing this journey of yours with us, that is similarly available to all.

blah! blah blah

Don't waste your time like I did. He just goes on and on about nothing. Useless words.
I wrote my review half way through chapter 6. I finished the book and the review still stands. He uses so many words to say nothing.

Less of a Read, More of a Ride

I really enjoyed listening to this book and don't know if I would have had the same experience physically reading it. Rob has a talent for turning the mundane into the magical and listening to his words made it even more magical.

This was my first Rob Bell book - I actually had never even heard of him before this so I went in with completely neutral expectations.

The whole book feels like one, big, long sermon, but I honestly am not even mad at that. I'm also not mad about the various biblical references, even as a ex-Christian. In fact, I found his perspectives on Jesus and stories from the Bible really refreshing - I wish more followers of Jesus thought and acted like Rob.

In his own words, he describes this book as "less of a read, more of a ride" and that was absolutely accurate for me. There were many times I wondered where he was going and how it was all going to tie together - I think that's part of his point, though.

I know it's cliche, but I definitely had a spiritual experience with this book. Rob's conversational and intimate voice in which he writes feels incredibly personal and makes it more inviting to join him in vulnerability.

I really enjoyed the book and am really glad I read it. Do I agree with everything he said? No.
I am not a proponent of the "everything happens for a reason" and the "there's a lesson behind every struggle" narratives. However, Rob's ability to connect the dots between the cosmos, the divine, and the ordinary is incredible and I walk away from this book with a refreshed perspective on life, purpose, creation, and death.

Loved it!

Beautiful, smart, encouraging, fun to read. I once believed Rob Bell was some sort of radical heretic but now nothing he says feels “out there” to me…he’s talking about and teaching ideas people have pondered for centuries. He’s showing us how to ask questions and embrace the big-ness of God. How is that heretical? It’s not!
Thank Goddess I left fundamentalism. One of the best decisions of my entire life.
