Publisher's summary

Peter Schweizer's bombshell investigation reveals how Washington really works: politicians extort money from us, then use it to buy each other's votes. Our legislators' desire for cash influences everything-from how they write laws to when they vote on a bill. His audiobook reveals:

  • Obama's "Protection Money": How the Obama Administration targeted industries for criminal investigation but chose not to pursue key political donors.
  • John Boehner's "Tollbooth": How the Speaker of the House extracts money by soliciting political donations before he will hold crucial votes on the House floor.
  • The "Slush Fund": How politicians extract "campaign contributions" and then convert them to bankroll lavish lifestyles complete with limos, private jets, golf at five-star resorts, fine wines, and cash for family members.
  • Capitol Hill's "Underground Economy": How congressmen use a little-known loophole that allows them to secretly link their votes to cash.

Extortion finally makes clear why Congress is so dysfunctional: it's all about making money, not making law.

great book

A very good listen that kept the informational action coming. And yet is filled with relevant and little known information that I could follow. I can't wait to listen to it again.

FACTS!!

Sometimes difficult to stay interested because the information is "more of the same." that said, I highly recommend that if you really want an idea of the daily workings of the US Congress, with FACTS to support the conclusions, this is a must read.

A Must Listen!

What did you love best about Extortion?

Peter Schweizer has done a masterful job of describing what goes on behind the green curtain. He names names and gives detailed facts describing the corruption that goes unreported. The political class has a system that will nauseate you.

What other book might you compare Extortion to and why?

Predator Nation is similar.

Have you listened to any of Jonny Heller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great job by Jonny.

Any additional comments?

Anyone interested in understanding why things don't change in Washington, and why the average citizen feels they are not listened to, will find out why in this book.

Down with the ruling class

Where does Extortion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the most enlightening books I have listened to. It will make your blood boil. The bastards in Washington are getting wealthy beyond belief on the backs of ordinary Americans. Democrats and Republicans alike. Just like pro-wrestling, these guys put on a show on the camera and conspire behind the scene.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Extortion?

How the Harry Reid extortion machine has gotten incredibly wealthy for doing nothing other than being connected.

What about Jonny Heller’s performance did you like?

Johnny is easy to listen to and ads depth to the performance.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

We have to vote out all established politicians. This is not how the country was designed to work.

Any additional comments?

A must listen to.

We the people

This book really explains what has happened to our freedoms and votes in the last few decades! Peter Schweitzer has done beautiful research and, as in all his books, shines a light on how big money, big business, big tech and the defense industry has been such a corrupted force in what is happing to our country! A must read for those who love freedom and care about future generations!

Horrifying

It’s like finding a cockroach in your kitchen. You know that if there is one you can see, there are thousands you can’t.
How do we, the American people, schedule an exterminator?

Very Interesting about these politicians

Any additional comments?

When will they get prosecuted. Americans must wake up and vote them out! President Trump will try but he is fighting the world. Peter good job!

A must read.

Because of all the crooks in D.C. wanting to change our election reading this will show you how and why they cannot let Trump in the White house.
