About this listen

Since when did the procedure for giving someone a ticket for running a stop sign include a very hands-on pat-down against the hood of my car, not even giving me a chance to see his face? I swear, cop or not he was getting very close to getting Tasered; my hand was mere inches from the Taser in my open purse. But despite the high inappropriateness of his pat-down there was something very familiar about the way he was touching me and even the scent of his cologne triggered familiarity.

I never dreamed when the inappropriate, yet highly erotic frisking was over that I be standing face to face with my former high school sweetheart, town troublemaker and love of my life Devon Land. But there he was with a cocky smirk, looking sexier than I remembered and thoroughly enjoying my shock.

One big mistake cost me the upscale life in New York I'd grown to love, forcing me to return home to Alabama. I swore I'd never move back to my small town, I'd outgrown it, but with a temptation like Devon intent on reminding me of the life I'd left behind can I leave a second time?

Short but Sweet!

I really like this book! I normally have a hard time getting invested in shorter stories however i loved this one. I felt like it was written to not just be a buildup to one good scene at the end. It felt more like a full length novel (just shorter) than most the other short stories that come across my account. No complaints at all~

Great narration as always! Sarah Puckett's work is amazing. I have several of her works and have loved them all.

Definitely a great pick~ Thanks!

Note: I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. It in no way affected my opinion of the book.

Hot second chance romance!

Second chance romances are definitely one of my guilty pleasures and Terry Towers did not disappoint with this one. The chemistry between Violet and Devon can be felt even before you know Devon is her high school sweetheart. The twist that broke the couple up originally is not so much shocking, but appalling knowing how it hurt the two involved. The reconciliation and disposal of Violet's ex boss is very satisfying, the book being both a fun and hot listen!

Sarah Puckett does an amazing job with the Alabama accent. I loved her cadence as well as the ability t separate the characters. Always good when it is easy to tell who is speaking without question. Her voice is pleasant and very easy to listen to.

Cute, light story

Would you listen to Failure to Stop again? Why?

Yeah, it was an enjoyable experience.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Devon - he's a sweetheart and I love how much he cares for Violet.

What about Sarah Puckett’s performance did you like?

She has a nice tone, and she speaks clearly. I liked her little accent she used for the main character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The first kiss between Devon and Violet.

Any additional comments?

This is a second chance love story, which I adore reading second chance, so I loved that aspect, but I did want more character development and romantic development between the characters. The romance is sweet, the characters are likable, and I liked the small town setting. Violet has returned home after some surprising information comes out about the guy she's been "dating", so she ends up going back to her small hometown to get her head back on straight. When she arrives home, she runs into her high school boyfriend, Devon, they both are excited to see the other, but some past and present hurts may get in the way of them starting a new relationship. These 2 loved each other deeply when they were younger, and I enjoyed the connection between the two. Devon is such a sweetie! I was so sad for him! Some devious deeds caused problems for Devon and Violet in the past and present, so these two need to work through some painful situations if they are going to try to be in a relationship again, which I enjoyed reading how that would play out, and I would've actually have loved for there to be more angst with this situation, but this book is fairly short, so it didn't quite go into that enough. I also would've liked for there to be a bit more in the ending. Overall, this book is an interesting read, and I'd recommend it! I listened to the audio version of this story, and the narrator did a great job! Fun little accent!
