Turning the tables

Outstanding! I was mesmerized by this and drawn in. I was on edges the whole time rooting for the PI.
Stunningly brilliant ending. Now I can take a deep breath. I highly recommend this. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Everyday I'm shufflin' . . .

What happens when a detective meets a mysterious woman who bets him that he can't shuffle a deck of cards for five hours straight, and then forces him to solve a murder in that timeline? Pure magic.

Scarlato is an amazing narrator, but it seems that he is also an incredible author as well. Having first discovered Scarlato's talant as a writer with the unbelievable Pickpocket Frankie, I was very happy to give this book a chance. Man, I am glad that I did. This story plays out as one thing, but then swiftly turns out to be something completely different. As a fan of Pulp, I can certify that this has that pulp flavor. The story moves and flows swiftly, like a creek during flood season, and the way that the protagonist gets back at the mystery woman is pure poetic justice.

Once more, I shall praise his narration, and say that without question there is no one who could have performed this story better. Scarlato's narration style generally elevates whatever work he is performing, but he takes his own stuff to new levels. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review. So take my word for it, this is some fine fun writing.

This book plays out well for fans of noir, pulp, detective tales, and even paranormal stuff. If I had to, I could compare aspects of this story to Stephen King's Thinner (as Richard Bachman, of course) or even Raimi's Drag Me to Hell. The elements are there, it just might not play out like you'd expect.

This is an excellent story, I'd read it if I were you.

Fun Quick Little Mystery

Any additional comments?

This was a great quick listen! It was a fun little mystery that was wrapped up in just over an hour. Without spoiling it, I'll just say there were some unique little twists and shifts in the story that I enjoyed! It was perfect for a short road trip.

Ohh those twisty turns! So Perfect, So Good!

Did he jump … did he fall … or was he pushed? In “Fall Where They May”, Retired Detective Michael Jakes is … uh strongly “encouraged” to find out … AND, if he doesn’t … Well, that retirement … might just become permanent! This novella length story is mind blowing, edge of seat, twisty perfection, and I LOVED every second! The pace is fast, the flow smooth, the plot intriguing, the characters quirky and delightful! This throughly enjoyable story came vibrantly ALIVE through fabulous narration, making EVERYTHING perfect! Five fantastic stars perfect across all categories and I want more!

A good mystery

Fall Where They May is a short thriller by Roberto Scarlato. Michael Jakes is a retired detective who gets pulled into a murder investigation by a woman who he thinks bewitched him. Lots of twists and turns in the short story. The narration by Michael K Orenstein is excellent. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.
