About this listen

“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—whenever the sons of God went in to the daughters of men, who bore to them children. They were the mighty men of antiquity, men of renown.” — Genesis 6:4

Few sections of the Bible have been as controversial and misunderstood as Genesis 6:1–4. Who were the Nephilim? Were they giants? And who were the sons of God? Fallen angels, godly men, or wicked tyrants?

Wild speculations and sensational claims abound, generating more questions than answers. Regrettably, this misinformation leads many to adopt conspiracy theories while others either avoid the topic altogether or believe there is no hope of discerning the meaning of these verses.

Fallen is the answer. This detailed and easy-to-follow book represents the most comprehensive treatment of the Nephilim and the sons of God. Carefully and thoroughly researched, Fallen examines the biblical and historical data to clear up the confusion.

Join researcher Tim Chaffey as he…

  • Analyzes the three major views of the sons of God
  • Reveals the truth about the divine council
  • Addresses what Jesus said about these matters
  • Investigates the biblical teaching about giants
  • Explores similar records from ancient cultures

Readers of Fallen will discover its relevance to modern issues and importance in the biblical narrative. Genesis 6:1–4 will no longer be a mystery.

This was written for someone who is already familiar with Biblical research, so don't expect a popular study of the Nephilim mentioned in Genesis and other parts of the Bible. However it really is an excellent exposition of the pertinent verses. Narration is made with a computer voice but the quality was excellent -- except for one small part. The computer pronounces the book of JOB, as if it is 'job' (i.e. the place where one is employed). After a few dozen times hearing it mispronounced, but knowing that it is just a quirk of computer narration, I could just let it go.

I’ve been looking for confirmation of Dr. Michael Heiser’s thoughts of the Unseen Realm and Tim Chaffey takes Heiser’s work and explores other options in a very wonderful way. I’ve wondered about some of the options, I highly recommend this book. I’m only on Chapter 17, and I want Mr. Chaffey to know how much I appreciate his very good and hard work. I’ve been unable to explain Dr. Heiser’s idea with my thoughts as I go round & round in my head. This is clear and concise, even going into why and whom decided to change the sons of God into sons of Seth or sons of Israel.
I have the Kindle & Audible versions to help me keep up. It’s a great work! Thank you, Mr. Chaffey.

Dr. Heiser is confirmed

The thorough research and analysis in this book is top notch and changed my view of the Sons of God from the Sethite view to the fallen angel view. The AI voice can be difficult sometimes and pronounced words wrong like Book of Job. Otherwise, this was fascinating and I found it funny that it took an hour for the AI to go through the sources because it was researched so much.

Exegetical Exposition At Its Best

I appreciate how this book methodically addresses this topic. Dr Chaffey takes care to represent the major opposing views on the topic in a fair way. I also appreciate the many citations and clear indications when he is speculating.

This is my first time listening to a “virtual voice” title and overall it wasn’t as bad as I expected it might be. There are mispronounced words here and there and the AI struggles with abbreviations and citation shorthand but it is understandable and listenable.

Rigorous

Well done Tim

I have several books on the Nephilim and this one not only referred to them, but was very thorough.

Very Thorough

This book is a remarkable work of research by the author on this very debated subject and I agree with the main argument event if I hold some differences from the author conclusion on something minor.

The Artificial voice is quite good and there are minor errors on some note points, but other than that it was fine.

This book was very well researched, but written layman friendly. The way he explained differing concepts according to ancient translations was rather masterful. To the author...Thank you.

Audible at its Best.
