Fave Sci fi 9

This is a compilation of many old and new to me sci fi short stories.I liked most, disliked some.Al Kessels narration of "Matter of importance' stands out as done very well.I think my favorite was 'Bedside Manner'.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Consistently good series

Would you listen to Favorite Science Fiction Stories, Volume 9 again? Why?

Probably...some time in the future.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Favorite Science Fiction Stories, Volume 9?

Too many to list.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I've heard quite of few of these volumes. All good in my opinion. Especially liked they way they use different narrators for variety. Nice touch.

Any additional comments?

Surprised to see some did not like the narrators. Different strokes, I guess. The sample should help you decide for yourself.

Great stories, fine narration, Needs titles

each story is simply labeled as Chapter # rather than giving title and author

maybe one of the best sets in this series

if you make it this far, congrats. there are some duds throughout, but this has some of the best stories.

my opinion says that
the concrete mixer, no charge for alterations, and Greylorn are the best three. but there's still farewell to the master, the inferiors (aka homo inferior), the Virgin of valkarion, the ambulance made two trips, and fondly Fahrenheit to work through as well.

Very poor production quality

The stories are hit and miss, enough good ones to make the book worthwhile, if you can stand the extremely poor production quality and the so-so to poor narration. What’s most frustrating is that you can hear static, feedback, and sometimes even the turning of a page in the reading. If they used old recordings, they should have at least re-engineered/ re-mastered them so the quality is up to par by today’s standards. As for the narrators, the first one is particularly bad, making it basically unlistenable. And if course there’s the chronic problem of not having any table of contents, which I’ve reported to audible numerous times as an issue that seems to be present in over 80% of their short story collections. I don’t know how audible gets away with selling such sub-par audio books, and especially how they can consider a collection complete when there’s no TOC.
