Publisher's summary

Young, naive, Samantha Armstrong, can never go back to her pampered life style after being brutally raped by Greg Maston, the accountant for her father’s law firm and close family friend.

Fearing she would taint her family’s reputation and disappoint her parents, she chooses not to report the sexual assault. After she trusts Skyler Marks to help her, he takes advantage of her fragile state of mind when she tries to move forward without him to heal and forget her pain.

Skyler Marks, the young bright attorney in her father’s law firm, blackmails and stalks her. Too scared to trust again, and in turmoil, she doesn’t tell anyone the truth. Instead, Samantha searches for a way to be free of Skyler and her past.

Desperate for a new start, she attends college out of state. But when she returns home for a visit, her rapist is brutally murdered in her father’s law office, and Samantha is arrested for murder. Will the man she meets in college trust her enough to teach her what trust and love are and can she accept him before Skyler ruins her life forever? Will Samantha trust anyone again, find her voice, and be free of Skyler, or, will she be found guilty of murder and spend a life behind bars?

Ok-ish

Interesting premise but unbelievable. This chick must be the dumbest and most sought after woman in the world. The book isn’t bad just way longer than necessary. Listened at 1.5 speed and skipped multiple chapters but still wanted to find out how it ended. The court case was the most interesting to me at the end but can’t pull this up from middle of the road review. Narrator was very bland, acceptable not stellar. The ‘shocking’ subject matter (what, women get raped?) couldn’t save this. Still I did finish it so it want without some listening value.

If you are mother, you need to listen!

The tone of the narrator and the writing is a perfect combination. Once turn it on, hard to stop! As a mother, even harder to finish. It is so well written, and sad. Hopefully, there will be no fear for our future generations of girls and women. Please, prepare some tissues before listening. If you can.

Great story

I’ve been following the author for a while now and am thrilled to listen to the audiobook. I believe great stories come from real life and Judge Aquilina did a great job!

A story of effects from trauma

It’s a very well written story about how skewed life looks from a victim’s view.

This story and especially the lead character of this novel is so… Dumber than a bag of rocks!

To listen to this novel with the lead female character being 17, coming from a family of privilege and going through what she goes through in the first four chapters of this book... Not one Aspect of the story rings true. By the middle of chapter 4, when the lead character could not figure out how she actually had the upper hand, I couldn’t waste anymore of my time on this. And as for the narrator- she tried her best to spin this story into something worth listening to… But more importantly, the narrator’s voice was way more mature and polished to be perpetrating a 17 year old girl
