About this listen

Millionaires, a mini dachshund, and dreams of old Manhattan inspire a writer to leave monotony behind and follow a 1930s murder mystery.

Rick Gordon is accustomed to losing. He decides it’s time for a change after finding himself single and out of work again with no one for moral support but his two meddling friends and a precocious dachshund. A box of old family photos reveals an odd mystery his deceased uncle had tucked away for him. When Rick makes the unsolved Ridley murders the focus of his first novel, he has no idea how close it will take him to the edge before bringing him back to the love and happiness he’s always been seeking.

Don't miss this!

NYC, dachshunds, dating-games, friendship, mystery

Ok, so it had me at the dachshunds, but the engaging narrative held me in place until I finished it!
Basically it's a narrative by an ordinary guy with an overbearing single female friend who keeps setting him up with blind dates but doing no better than he does on his own. After the death of his beloved uncle and last relative, he finds a box containing all sorts of info regarding the unsolved Ridley murder from 1933. He then begins to have nightmares about it and becomes a near obsession with him to not only solve the mystery, but to write his first novel using it. There's lots more, but no spoilers! The story is good and so is the mystery. I loved it!
The empathetic narrator is Alan Carlson, who is perfect for this one!
I won the audio in a giveaway, I WIN!

great narrator!

the story was ok, kinda jumped about more than I cared for. loved the daschunds incorporated into the story line. I expected more mystery though. it had more light romance and that's really not my preferred genre.

I received a free copy of this audible boom in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing. I have never heard a story quite like this one. Alan Carlson did a fantastic job bring 'Finding Ridley' to life. I have spent the last seven hours lost in New York with Rick. It was so real. This journey Rick was on.

I loved the historical aspect and if I was more familiar with NYC I would be out looking for some of the historical markers described. The various ideas of ws hat really happened was fascinating. I will be looking into if the murders were real or all fiction.

There were a couple things I don't feel were necessary and drew me away from the story but they are personal preferences.

I recieved a free Audible copy, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Finding Ridley Audio Book is a Find!

The audio version of this book really brought the story to life. The narrator did a great job of moving from character to character which made it easy to follow the story and a lot of fun to listen to. Finding Ridley is a wonderful book and I'm glad I gave it a listen!

predictable

The narration was very good but the story was predictable. Not really a mystery more of a finding yourself story.

Ricky finds Ridley

My favorite part about this book was its simplicity (and with a book that may or may not have had spirits involved, that's saying a lot!)

I liked Ricky right away. He was an attractive, semi-middle age dude that was still trying to figure it out. He was not an aggressive persona, nor did he make bad decisions. The story progressed as normal life does - there were no sinister forces trying to kill him or no angsty hand-wringing driving his decisions. Even his love story was simple and normal. I know that sounds boring but it really wasn't.

The narrator was a perfect fit for the story.
